EOSC 475 Peer Review

1. Try to link certain topics to their respective Wikipedia article such as "Prochlorococcus" and "Pelagibacter ubique"

2. Furthermore, larger genome requires a larger nucleus to hold it, which typically translates to a larger cell size. For this reason, many bird genomes have also been under selective pressure to decrease in size. Flying with a larger mass due to larger cells is more energetically expensive than with a smaller mass I thought streamline theory was about prokaryotic genomes, elaborate on your connection with birds genome

3. page looks unfinished --> **Maybe add something in here to tie this back to bacteria?** "deletion bias" "purifying selection" Image from Giovannoni et al. 2014 paper? or are these made by the peer review editors?

4. "Open reading frames" either explain what this means or link it to its respective Wikipedia article

5. The lead seems well made to me, short, simple, and contains all the important information

6. The structure is good and organized (though since you listed Prochlorococcus first in the "lead", it would be nice to have Prochlorococcus appear first but not a big deal)

7.I'm not sure if this topic just lacks content in general but would of liked more content (e.g. streamlining theory on microbial ecology)

8.I didn't know reliable sources included having to try to have more than 1 source for the information (which I also didn't do in my article)

- Maybe consider adding more citations to the end of some sentences to show the source of the info (e.g. in the Prochlorococcus paragraph, the citation only appears at the end of last sentence)

- In general, I think this page is really well done and provides a lot of information about the genome streamlining with several examples. However, there are just a couple things that I believe that could be improved. First, for the Theory Overview portion, I was a little confused when it jumped into talking about bird genome, and it seems a little incomplete after that. Also, for the Model Organisms section, I am a little unsure of what the provided video and image has to tie in with genome streamlining. Additionally, I believe a couple more links within the text towards other wiki pages would be idea. Overall, I was able to learn a bit more about genome streamlining from this page.
