Your edits are pretty strongly against policy. Further, there is a policy about edit waring (linked above). If you persist with this edit (and don't engage on the talk page while doing so) there's a good chance you'll be blocked for a short while from editing. I am trying to post something that is informative and timely in a way that is consistent with Wiki policies. Each time you have deleted my entry I have tried to correct it--not to simply repost. I would like to add this important piece of information about Ms. Piven in a way that is consistent with Wiki policies so people can investigate for themselves and make their own conclusions from the facts--especially her own words that are depicted in the reference as well as any other sources others may provide. - Find a reliable source WP:RS that deals with this, and it could be considered. An out of context clip posted on youtube is not a reliable source. And she didn't say what the edit implied she said. Best evidence? edit
The clip is in her own words in a full and complete expression of her thoughts. There is a question--and her complete answer. Then she goes onto another question. Why would you not want people to see this and evaluate and explore for themselves? Take Howard Dean's famous "scream" clip that still gets air time?--was that taken out of context and not representative just because it showed him out of control emotionally? It turned out to be one of the main reasons that people used to evaluate his candidacy for president. Should that clip have been suppressed as unrepresentative of who Howard Dean is? Most communication is non-verbal. Is it important to understanding her biography to see what Ms. Piven looks like, her body language, her countenance, her actual words? Evidence from Ms. Piven's own mouth is relevant as long as the information isn't doctored, distorted or taken out of context. In this clip Ms. Piven provides her views on the role of non-violence in social change--and people have a right to at least be made aware of the issue so they can decide for themselves. The best evidence of her views isn't secondary sources but her words themself. Non-violence is a critically important issue for society and us as individuals. If other Wiki readers have clips or quotes from Ms. Piven that shows a contrary position, they will be able to post these. For example, if she has made subsequent clarifications of her position on this widely circulated clip--or if there are other references that contradict this--they should be welcomed here. There is no intention to distort of misrepresent Ms. Piven's views on the role of violence in social change. It is only to provide, in a neutral way that complies with Wiki standards, the publicly available evidence of those views. It may turn out that her views on violence is the most important point about Ms. Piven because it has the profound consequences for how people seek social change. Does she teach that "ends justify the means"--and that violent means are permissable means? Would it be right to exclude this important issue? Nothing in the current Wiki entry on Ms. Piven explores this critical issue. I have to tell you that I would be delighted to learn that this clip does not reflect her views on non-violence and that instead her views are consistent with the views held by Tolstoi, Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Thank you for your help and patience with this.
