{{Help me}} Can anyone show me how to create these pretty user profiles like others have? I cannot find how anywhere. I have scoured the site, i assure you. I particularly fancy this user's set upUser:Frank --Irish Lass of Galway (talk) 07:39, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

If it's the userboxes you're asking about, you can find lists of available userboxes at Category:Userboxes, and tips about using them at Wikipedia:Userboxes. --Paul A (talk) 08:35, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also have a look at Wikipedia:template messages/User namespace, Cheers,

Welcome!

edit

Hi Irish Lass, and welcome! While we're thrilled to have you on board, I have to mention something. You've started out editing pretty aggressively (which is encouraged!) but I noticed a couple of instances where you inappropriately tagged articles for speedy deletion. One, Urszula Augustyn, is an article about a member of a national parliament; this easily passes Wikipedia's notability guideline. The other, Gangsta Blues, is an album, and is not eligible for speedy deletion (though I grant you that its notability is questionable). Before doing anymore tagging, I'd recommend giving WP:CSD a thorough read, and remember that speedy deletion is usually reserved for only the most obvious cases; otherwise WP:PROD and WP:AFD are preferred. If you have any questions you're more than welcome to contact me on my talk page. Again, welcome! faithless (speak) 09:19, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

More help with userboxes

edit

I see you've managed to add userboxes to your page. Good work!

However, you seem to have added the userboxes by copy-and-pasting the code. This is not the correct way to do it, and can cause problems. (Notice, for instance, that your userpage is now in Category:Academic degree user templates, and not as it should be in Category:Wikipedians with MS degrees.)

The correct method is to use the template transclusion code, which is the name of the template in curly brackets. To get your current set of userboxes, you would enter:

{{User degree/MS}} {{User:UBX/Zodiac:Scorpio}} {{User:UBX/female3}} {{User:UBX/Wild_Cherry_Pepsi}} {{Proud Irish}} {{User:Barfbagger/Userboxes/Guinness}}

And to get them in a neat column like the one User:Frank has, you would enter:

{{Userboxtop|All about me}} {{User degree/MS}} {{User:UBX/Zodiac:Scorpio}} {{User:UBX/female3}} {{User:UBX/Wild_Cherry_Pepsi}} {{Proud Irish}} {{User:Barfbagger/Userboxes/Guinness}} {{Userboxbottom}}
