RE: Shattered Visage

edit

Tbrittreid here.

Concerning your revising my revisions to the section of The Prisoner article about the comic mini-series/graphic novel Shattered Visage, I admit that I have not sat down and truly read the work in quite some time; here I simply pulled my copy and flipped through looking for some things that I thought I remembered and admittedly missed a few others. You are quite right that I made several errors, but not on one point: What I said was that the communique's only indication that its author was with British intelligence was the "Her Majesty's service" sign-off, and this is true. I did not say he wasn't named in it or that a determination of his nationality/employer could not be made with other evidence. It is not until you read the story itself that you encounter Thomas Drake (BTW, surely Motter knew about John Drake?) of BI, and can confirm that the reference is not to some other country's queen. I did indeed miss "Georgina's" butler referring to her as Mrs. Butterworth, and BTW, she is the addressee of the opening communique. This also made the identification plausible and was something I should have pointed out, but the butler's line renders that unnecessary, of course. I also missed the identification of her visitor, and was just guessing as to what whoever wrote that "several" original series guest characters appeared had in mind when I was aware of only the lady and the unclear Village butler (if this last was indeed supposed to be our little friend, it is a shame that Motter could not show him any clearer). For the most part, thank you for the repairs. Ted Watson 20:03, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lord, Lord, Lord, you are quite right, MI-5 it is. I must sit down and give Visage a proper reread, and then I'll check out that article. I didn't realize it had a truly separate article of its own, but thought that notice had referred to it being given a separate section in The Prisoner article from what other comic history the show has. Jeez, I screwed that up real bad. Must be more careful in the future, as Wiki has enough credibility problems without me adding to them. Ted Watson 19:30, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
