editI read your comment on this page and I just wanted to leave a message for you here to aid in your analysis of Wikipedia and in your classe's discussion if you so desire. Wikipedia bases its content off of what is available in English language, reliable sources. It is meant to reflect what is offered in those sources and those sources alone. This means that Wikipedia has an inherent Western, English language bias to all of the material on it. This is an accepted part of the process (for better or for worse), and does not leave much room for perspectives of cultural relativity or inclusiveness. The people who have actively edited this page are not however unaware of the various arguments surrounding whether the procedures in question are in fact mutilation, they are often the focus of debate over what name this page should have. Setting aside the name however, I think you would find that the article itself does well in covering all of the relevant perspectives and in speaking about the issue in a way that does not take sides.
