Careful of headers in a template

edit

re {{Welcome-id}}: I suggest you use <big> not header on a template. Otherwise, when someone clicks the edit section link, they will end up editing this template by mistake, when they mean to edit/answer the post on their talk page. This has already happened a couple of times. You reverted this edit - I assume you didn't notice my edit summary for that change. Cheers -Singkong2005 talk 04:10, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tourism in Indonesia

edit

Hey, I'm fine. The weekend here is so terrible with big rains and thunderstorm. On the good side, I have time to contribute in the project, hahaha. Yes, the Tourism in Indonesia article has been improved a lot, before it is actually become the contribution of the week. :-) Thanks for your help. — Indon 10:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I assume that you posted a message about Indo Collabs at my user talk, as the username is not visible. Yes, I think we can conclude about the new collaboration of the week. — Indon 11:00, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Good Morning !

edit

Hey, good morning Imoeng! It's still 7 AM in Melbourne and you've already contributing to the project. Don't forget your study, ok? :-) Cheers. — Indon 21:02, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, your the master. I've to find out how to personalize the signature. Just wait.. ;-) — Indon 21:08, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Imoeng, that's a cool "red I" signature, but it's not my style. ;-) I'm going to change my signature, but later after I finish some edits on Bandung. Anyway, with your "red I" page, I clicked your contribution list and found your happy face. Keep it that way, man. :-) — Indon 10:28, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I think that's a good idea. We can make 1-2 paragraphs of Indonesian cuisine as in Tourism in Singapore. I'll help you later. By the way, I think we should put the Collaboration of the Week banner in the article page, not in the discussion. CMIIW. — Indon 10:34, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
CMIIW = Correct Me If I'm Wrong. It's funny that the Wikipedia CMIIW is redirected into something non-exist. Take care. :-) — Indon 10:42, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

No, don't imitate me with "pls revert if you don't like" message, hehehe. I like your edit. I'm not going to revert it. Anyway, I don't know how, hahaha. I still have no ideas about the future development as you said. I'll think about it first. I don't have a hotmail. I'll make a new email later, then I'll tell you. In the meantime, leaving me a message in wikipedia is better, because I'm going to login very often. — Indon 13:21, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hi Imoeng. You're doing a great job setting up the Indo wikiproject. Well done! Thanks for the invitation; I haven't alot of time right now, so my focus is just on the West Sumatra related pages. I had a look at the Indo tourism page, and I'm impressed. Great to see the progress that has been made. Cheers, Michael

I'm editing right now at my User:Indon/sandbox. I am putting several citations. So I'm going to change a lot then. Thanks for the info. — Indon 09:10, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Done. I've moved Bandung from my sandbox back to the article page. There are still some NPOV issues need to fix. Don't worry, I'll change that. Thanks for your offer. — Indon 09:15, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I just thought we could have a section on the types of accomodation available to the tourist - from 5 star hotels to huts on the beach. Proliferation of family run losmen, etc. Just an idea, really. --Bwmodular 10:57, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Historical Context

edit

Imoeng, I'd love to help you, but I don't quite understand what SatuSuro really wants to present. There are things that I've never read about it. The only person who can give its source is SatuSuro him/her-self, but I doubt it because it is only based on his/her personal opinion. I'm not sure what to do. I think it would be better to erase it, but that will make SatuSuro feeling unwelcomed. — Indon 11:26, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Imoeng, somebody has just edited the historical context. I've put the citation needed tags and put this issue in the discussion page. I think it's better to discuss there. If we edit the page in your sandbox, somebody else might have changed it in the actual page. I guess other guys would do the same thing in the page.
Adobe PS? Yes, I have. What do you want with that? — Indon 11:36, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I would appreciate an off-wiki discussion with either of you about this. SatuSuro 12:32, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I realise that even though I have sent an email, I have too many unfinished projects to really go into the hsitory of tourism issue properly at the moment, I'll be back in a week or two on this subject. sampai jumpa SatuSuro 14:01, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry

edit

Imoeng, sorry about not responding your request of the Indonesian FA tag & other things. I've had my time in the Bandung article. I'm feeling curious about user Feureau. He delisted the article from GA list in just a few hours and added NPOV in dispute tag. His objection of NPOV is not good enough, as he said that some events were not mentioned in the article. Well, these events are unknown to me, how can I mention it? So, I've put the article in the WP:RFF page. Hopefully somebody not related with Bandung/Indonesia will give a feedback. Wish me luck.

Oh, and also, it's a strange thing that this user Feureau erased all of his talk page. See you tomorrow. — Indon 14:34, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tourism?

edit

I think there is an attempt to re-invent the wheel - see this page: http://wikitravel.org/en/Indonesia, it is not reflexive - as a consequence it would not have a history of tourism section :) SatuSuro

In other words - in case I get misunderstood again :), in wikipedia there is an attempt at encyclopedia entries (ie what wikipedia is and is not) and not lists of info for tourism - what you guys have done so far is a poor relative of the wikitravel entry - which is not an encyclopedia entry :) The insertion of the history of tourism is what academics would put in if they were asked to edit. The range of citations, which I do not have to hand, would swamp the article. One possible solution is to pull out the history of tourism section, and at a later date I will create an article with that title. Then if someone does a peer review - and they look at the wikitravel article - you might have a whole range of problems which will make the history citations a mere ripple compared to what a more serious editor might come up with :) If you do not understand anything here, ask, before doing anything else, please? SatuSuro 13:20, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oh also, I have pulled myself out of the member list. That does not mean much - my articles and work spread across too much, I cannot pretend to be ahli in all that I edit and submit.

I have a project to create many articles from my work ten years ago in java - but all my materials are locked away until later in the year, so until then...

BUT please note - PLEASE do not re-direct any messages I send to other talk pages, unless you ask first. Habis. kalau sekali lagi, saya tutup! # (A) I would watch and defend yours and Indon work against any critics, vandals or nuisance users. and would support your hard work in making wiki a better place, to any length. (B) I am and always will criticise articles and editors from my perspective of being an outsider (0f Indonesia that is) who wishes to keep wikipedia articles encyclopedia articles (ie what wikipedia is and is not) (C) even if I disagree with some of yours and indons work, or opinions from your perspective - I understand and abide by the wikipedia editors code of assuming good faith and good will (D) I will try to simplify my messages/talk writing - as there have been too many misunderstandings so far :) SatuSuro 13:32, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm still confused between References & Notes. The previous references section in that tourism article were similar with External Links. That's why I combined them both. In scientific publications, as far as I know, all citations are written under Bibiliography or References section. However, we can revert back my last edit. No problems with me. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 11:45, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hmm... then I should follow the wikipedia style. I'm going to revert back. — Indon (reply) — 11:50, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
May i butt in? I don't know what the conventions are, but what made sense to me was that references were more general, and help create the article, whereas notes were specific links from the article with footnotes. (yes, a book/site/etc can appear in both, but hopefully as a note it might have a chapter or page number). And Further Reading is not necessarily used to create the article, but for someone with too much time. Merbabu 11:53, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is constantly evolving - policies and "official pronouncements" are changing all the time. On my user page I have a very old description of wikipedia, as an example.

As for any quality, I am definitely not what you say, I just happen to be old enough to be your opa or grandfather :0 which is why apa kabar is not appropriate ;). I will change the portal text, but only after I have alerted you that I am about to do so :# SatuSuro 10:53, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

When I was in yogya in 95/96, the use of that term was limited due to use of arabic (if moslem) and javanese instead, amongst some friends - _but not all_. Code switching amongst the javanese teenagers children of my friends there (ie older teenagers in mid 90's) - led to a situation where even the parents couldnt understand them (!) and apparently the dagadu people in Malioboro Mall made good money out of this with t-shirts with bahasa campur kurang tepat between javanese english and indonesian (!) Fine with me, as I'm almost everyday online. BTW, if I find an article related to Indonesia, can I tag it to the WP:INA project? — Indon (reply) — 11:30, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The scope

edit

The project generally considers any article related to Indonesia to be a valid topic. If that's the case - which tag do you want on talk of the (a) stubs (b) articles? any difference at all? As there are large number of articles which could do with some sort of tag. SatuSuro 11:53, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The reason that I asked, is that there are many articles with multiple "ownership" - where India claims joint possession of Tsunami articles for instance, and there are some subjects that exist "outside" of indonesian territorial waters, but which have impact on the country in some way :) SatuSuro 12:14, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
BTW you might want to see an answer I gave Indon about what I consider important/not important about being member /not a member of the portal. Please do not take that the wrong way. As I have said before, I would gladly explain if you dont understand what I am trying to say :) SatuSuro 12:50, 25 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

question

edit

On the page: -

Wikipedia:WikiProject Indonesia/Assessment/Disputes

there is mention of the grades 'low-high' etc, for things - but nothing about people.

Do you have any clues as to what different sorts of people are graded at - living politicians, versus dead ones, or heroes versus villains?

Your feedback would be appreciated.

SatuSuro 03:01, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much for your reply. I do not mean to be a thorn in yours and Indon side (I hope you get the meaning), but I do not wish to place Diponegoro, Aidit, Bob Hassan and Try Sutrisno on the same level - yet in the scales that we have - I think that perhaps I should put this in one of the portal pages so that others can see? Maybe I should look at other country portals for clues, but I keep coming across more items for entry to the portal. Oh well I'll be a nuisance again soon :) SatuSuro 03:53, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

BTW, the more I trawl (or stalk heheh) the Portal and all its components, I am very impressed - well done for what you have so far ! SatuSuro 04:05, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Although I might have to drop out at short notice (real life heheh) I have signed up for the portal assessment team, and about to make suggestions to the criteria there as well - please feel free to amend/check/rearrange if you consider my edit to be out of order. Thanks SatuSuro 04:26, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am going to print out the criteria, and have them next to me before the next time I do a big batch. Thanks for your correction on Krakatoa :) SatuSuro 07:31, 27 August 2006 (UTC) And in view of the fact that Merbabu is writing comments when he's making changes on each page, and seems to be checking some, we will probably come out ok. :) It will in the longer run give any one coming after us a good idea of what a topic/article was like at that point. I think one fundamental error with the batch that I did was that I didnt make comment about the class/importance atr the same time as tagging. Will do so on newer ones, apologies if it causes you and/or merbabu more work - at least you might come across articles that you hadnt read yet :) SatuSuro 07:39, 27 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Need your advice

edit

Hi, Imoeng, could you please take a look at the Bandung article? It is full of tags now, by the person who blocked this article to be reviewed in the GA list. I'm already fed up by him/her. Whatever I said to him/her would give no effect. The article has been put in as featured article in the Portal:Indonesia, so it would be really silly to have these tags when the article shows up. BTW, have you read this person's request in the Portal_talk:Indonesia? And there's something funny about this person that I want to share with you. Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 09:12, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Yes, I will assume a good faith also, the best practice here. Also avoiding disputed issues. Anyway, don't get surprised as you give him a message, his talk page will be emptied again (see his talk page history). ;-) — Indon (reply) — 09:21, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again. I've read your message on his. You're a good communicator. I am going to improve Bandung, but later. I think I should read the MoS, really carefully, as I've been misunderstanding about the current style I used. Perhaps I brought this style from wikitravel. So I'm going to learn help section first in the coming days. In the meantime, I think he is currently editing the article, so I will wait for his standard. Actually, it's really good to have him, if you read his userpage that he is a native English speaker and level-5 Indonesian user. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 09:39, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that what I've said. Previously, I've created almost the whole article of Bandung in wikitravel, including maps. You can read that in the wikitravel website. Because wikitravel is about practical guide to the coming travellers, then it was written with travel book style. So, I think I still have that style in the tourism industry section. I need somebody else to correct that. So if you notice that style, my POV of Bandung, then could you please correct that. I'll be very glad if there is somebody who can correct my POV style. But please if you do have spare time, because I know you've other things to handle in the WP:INA project. Again, thanks a lot. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 10:34, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oh, by the way, I didn't write the culture section. In fact, I want to replace it with Demographic section (see To-Do list in the article's talk page). So yes, the culture section is the core problem. :-) — Indon (reply) — 10:35, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Imoeng, I'm sorry, I'm a bit lost. I don't get what you meant from your last message. Could you please explain? If you prefer, we can discuss by email. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 11:19, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes. In fact, I'm still writing a reply when you gave me a message here, hahaha. Be patient. :-) BTW, being nice is worth 1000 times more than 1 bad word. Believe me, there will be a nice return in the future. Oh, about msn, I couldn't do chat here in, cause my office is blocking chat programs — when we are online together it means that I'm in the office :-). Don't worry, we can still chat by email. Wait my reply, soon. :D — Indon (reply) — 11:53, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

That meant email, and did not mean anything to do with wikipedia. SatuSuro 13:24, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bandung

edit

Well, if somebody changed it's schedule, perhaps it was to give time because it was agreed that the article wasn't "up-to-par"? (again, no offense) Anyhow, I still don't think it should become a selected article. Featured Article, of course IMHO, has a higher standard than selected article, and thus cannot be used as a measurement against selected article. And given the few weeks after the portal opening on august 10th, (again, congratulations for making such a great portal from scratch), the nomination system at least should've been up by now and even maybe selecting more articles.

Well, whatever the reason, I would've done the overhaul of Bandung article myself if I had the time, I added quite a bit of stuff into it, but for the next few months, I'd be very busy with my personal life and wouldn't have a lot of time to spend on wikipedia. So, as the consensus on wikipedia is to tag the article if one couldn't make the time to edit the article, I just added a few tags to "flag" the article. I hope it'd become an examplary article though. It's got a lot of potential. Feureau 10:42, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, deleting the talk page instead of archiving is just that thing that happens in the universe, you know. Like the sun rising and rainbows appearing. :D Feureau 11:08, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Indonesia DYK

edit

Hi Imoeng, the DYK section in the Indonesia portal hasn't been updated for a long time. I can help you that section, if you want, but how is the procedure of the DYK section? How about if I list all Indonesia-related DYKs in the archive and then I can update update the DYK section each day by rotating the top line of the current DYK to the bottom of the archive list. The same thing I do everyday with the news section. Thus we can list only 5 DYKs everyday. I wish we can borrow Wikipedia DYK's bot to update this section daily automatically. It would be then nice ;-), but I guess the bot cannot be run by any person. Do you have any experience of other portal's DYK, how it is run? — Indon (reply) — 09:01, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I can help you that, but still I need a backup. You need another wing to be balance, hahaha. I can maintain to update news, DYKs (hopefully everyday) and keep a look at other selected thingies: FA, image & bibliography.
For the DYK, I am trying to browse Indonesia-related articles and as I find something funny, wicked, strange, unique, etc., I'll put it in the DYK archive. — Indon (reply) — 09:33, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

DYK rules are at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Did_you_know - it works only for _new_ articles for the main page of wikipedia. You probably can create your own rules for the Indonesian portal. SatuSuro 10:04, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Imoeng, I think your last message to me should be sent to somebody else (see the above message). I'm confused. — Indon (reply) — 10:15, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I thought you mis-sent something, :-). Yes, I notice that you edited that section. Well, I'm not very keen to specific cultural things, so I may only syntax/grammar/wikify checking, except the lead section that I want to practice to build a good one, hehehe. Oh, yes, I will put DYK things here: Portal:Indonesia/DYK and this will not be based on specific dates and I will rotate it periodically. The top 5 will be shown in the portal. — Indon (reply) — 10:31, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hmm... IMHO, it's not really a good idea, because DYK has no specific date information. It's just a small ads for a reader to read an article and sometimes old DYKs are still good ads. My simple idea is to have just 1 list and rotate it periodically. Oh, BTW, I've put an ugly message box in the Portal:Indonesia/DYK page. Could you please take a look and give some comments? Thanks. — Indon (reply) — 10:43, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Of course, I don't mind and please beautify it :-). I'll read that section you've just made. — Indon (reply) — 11:07, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Cool, man! I wish the Garuda image is transparant. — Indon (reply) — 11:32, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I've done editing the lead section of the Culture of Indonesia article. Could you please check that? I'm going to pray first. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 12:30, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've created a transparent version of the Garuda image, but I'm not sure whether the license of the original allows me to upload it. See the discussion on commons: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template_talk:Vector-Images.com

I think I'm probably not allowed to modify the image, but will pose the question there.--Bwmodular 08:16, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

If I upload the transparent version and we change various pages to look at that one, and then find out we can't use it, we have to revert all those pages back again, so I think its best to wait and see what response I get from vector-images. I think those images are used under license rather than being PD, even if the license says 'You can use them wherever you want.' Let's wait and see.--Bwmodular 13:56, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Here it is - I won't have time to alter any of the pages that use the coat of arms today myself.

Bwmodular 08:34, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Seems OK to me - look at User:Bwmodular/Sandbox2 The background of that info box is not white. --Bwmodular 09:13, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Don't understand - looks fine to me. Also here Portal:Indonesia/DYK it looks fine to me. Am I missing something? --Bwmodular 10:30, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Here it is in a bigger clearer example: User:Bwmodular/Sandbox3 I left the motto and the shield white, but the background takes on the colour of the page behind, no? --Bwmodular 10:34, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:WikiProject Portals/Status

edit

Hi Imoeng,

Sorry about the wrongly inserted message.

I was just looking at the incomplete list of portals at the above address - if you insert Indonesia into the geography part - I think the status of the Indonesia portal would be high on the list if you and others were able to keep up a DYK - as few other portals are being maintained up to date.

SatuSuro 10:52, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well Done

So for that you should be congratulated! SatuSuro 11:21, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Culture of Indonesia LS

edit

Well, the LS should be concise, but there's no regulation of how long. Take a look at the LS of this featured article: Cricket. ;-) However, the LS of the Culture of Indonesia is really open for editing. Please feel free to add/cut/edit it. I'm still learning. — Indon (reply) — 13:21, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

FP, Bandung & DYK

edit

Hi, I should have given you a special congratulation for creating a record of Featured Portal in 20 days.. I am trying to find that kind of special speedy barnstar, hahaha. Congratz! BTW, finally somebody not me nor you who have looked at Bandung article and removed 3 tags. I'll wait for Feureau reaction. :-) Another BTW, I've made a change in the PID/DYK, if you can take a look. Oh, last thing, I am going to take Feureau's quote from your talkpage on my userpage. — Indon (reply) — 08:25, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ooops, I'm sorry. My last email was full of many things and I'm afraid that I become somebody else, you know, hahaha.
And his quote is on my main userpage...hehehe. (It just funny to read it) — Indon (reply) — 08:51, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Damn! Sorry about that. Hmm.. I should have wait tomorrow for my salary then. :D — Indon (reply) — 09:13, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry Imoeng, I'm not an expert in that area. — Indon (reply) — 09:44, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think he is a reviewer of GA. I'll try to fix that if I can find the source. — Indon (reply) — 11:42, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikibreak?

edit

Well, that's a shame - you've given the whole Indonesia project great impetus, and we've produced good results in the last few weeks. Have fun out there in the real world, and see you back here when you return. --Bwmodular 10:36, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, you're actually the motor of the project. As long as it is only a break ;-). So take care. I'll try to do to keep the project alive, but I'm not like you. Have fun! — Indon (reply) — 13:10, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and one thing Imoeng, I also have the same feeling of being tired to edit some Indonesia-related articles. Especially if I meet difficult persons. Sometimes I got some dizzyness. So I might only mantaining the project, while I'm personally editing only one article. Perhaps if you miss Wikipedia when you're on the break, you might want to read the toraja article. Hope it gets to the FA, hehehe. So again have a nice break. Feel free to contact me, wikiline or off-wikiline, you know my email address. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 13:25, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Welcome back

edit

Just found out you're back from your wikiholiday. How are you now? Have you bonked to the wall yet? ;-) — Indon (reply) — 12:11, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think, that the Education in Indonesia article is not popular, but it just, for me, too wide to contribute. Since contributing to the Tourism in Indonesia article, I need something more specific to write, then I found Toraja. Hope it goes to the FA status anytime.
Well, in real life, I still need to finish my long overdue paper, but got stuck in programming :-(. When I got stuck, I switched to Wikipedia, wrote something, and finally spent more than 1-2 hours, before I realized that I had to go back to real life again. Then I was already tired. Hahaha. Beside that, I'm just doing regular stuff every morning -> update the news, rolling DYK and the most important thing is looked at my watchlist. :-)
All right, hope's all right with you and don't forget that the real life is more important. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 12:25, 6 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Indonesian Topics template

edit

Imoeng, I suggest you take a look at similiar templates for other countries (eg. Australia, UK, USA). The poinf of this template is not to list every single topic but to provide an overview of the topics available. The template becomes too complicated and hard to find what you are looking for if you start adding links to every single province, or every single history topic. Even Australia which has only 6 states do not list links to states in its topics template. Additionally, I don't understand why you would have choosen to add additional links to sporting topics, but not links to other cultural topics - you need to be consistent about the level of detail provided. The red links are regetable, but its a sign and a reminder that someone need to create these topics to fill in the gaps. Caniago 05:40, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Imoeng, you know what a lonely wikipedia contributor does? He painted a talk page!! Take a look at Toraja talk page. ;-) Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 18:24, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Notice to Guitarist Project members

edit

An Admin, unfamiliar with the project, has nominated our template-Template:Guitarist infobox-for deletion. I have added a vote to keep it...more would help. Anger22 12:07, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Excellent! With our project founder on a wiki-break I'd hate to see his hard work go to waste while he's away. Thanks and take care! Anger22 12:19, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Indonesia GA

edit

Thank you for the nice complement. I do enjoy reviewing articles and I noticed that Indonesia had been waiting awhile. I may have been a tad hard in reviewing (I did take a little more of a FA slant in assessment) but I really see the potential in the article reaching FA status and I see this as a just a point on that path of development. Overall I do think Main Country articles should be held to a high standard because for many students that is one of their first experiences with Wikipedia. I'll be glad to help in any way that I can. Ask anytime. Agne 22:45, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

WP:INA open tasks template

edit

Hi Imoeng, how are you doing? I see you put News and notices box in WP:INA page. I have an idea, where I took from Template:WikiProjectGATasks. I've made some modifications and it's in my sandbox here: User:Indon/sandbox2. If you are agree, then I can put it in a template page that the project page can use it. And also every project's members can use it in their own userpage. — Indon (reply) — 08:12, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I separated news section into a new subarticle, so it's easier for somebody who wants to add news. And I thought you want to add the template on the top of the WP:INA project, so people would notice it directly. — Indon (reply) — 10:13, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I just saw your edit about news and notice on top of the project page, so just thinking to make it easier and put some tasks. But the position as it is now is okay for me. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 10:21, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

See [2] -- it's very similar to the guitarist deletion episode.

Sorry I cannot comment on anything because I don't have any experience in using that infobox. Hope it'll survive though. Cheers -- Imoeng 11:21, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Media Section

edit

I'd say chop it as a section - or better still, merge it with the neighbouring "Culture" section. I think you should check out the Australia article. It is very good and a FA(!). AND, it is actually shorter than the Indonesian article BUT i believe is much more informative. This is partly because it is written very well, tight and succint. Ie, what the Indonesian article says in 3 sentences, the Australian article says the same amount but only 1 sentence. Check it out. Sorry, my MSN is not working tonight - a restart would probably fix it but i can't be bothered.--Merbabu 13:03, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

hmm - i think you are talking about the Transmigration program. I don't think this is a reason why Indonesia has many Muslims, BUT it proabably provides some reasons as to how Muslims became spread over Indonesia. Ie, it explains the spread, not the number. Anyway, i gotta sleep now. --Merbabu 13:20, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Picture

edit

Yeah, I put the picture as the next selected picture was still empty. It's good that somebody like it, hahaha. Sorry, that I didn't update the portal today. I have a trouble this morning: my laptop's harddisk was suddenly crashed. :-(( — Indon (reply) — 17:04, 11 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tourism in Indonesia

Do you mean the lead section? No worries, let me see what I can do. BTW, you never disturbs me, don't worry. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 09:55, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Done. Could you please take a look and correct some mistakes? If you think it is worse than before, then you can revert it. ;-) — Indon (reply) — 11:47, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Fixed. I fixed the NPOV statement and removed the last line, not taken from the page. I should know that. Thanks.
About Indonesia's reference. Yes, it's a mess. I'm going to fix that.
Indon (reply) — 12:03, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Citation

edit

About citation, the easiest way is to use templates and the best way to see how to use citation templates is here: WP:CITET. Cheers. — Indon (reply) — 12:22, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I think you don't need to fill all the parameters. Only required ones. For example, <ref>{{cite web|url=http://...|title=bla..bla}}</ref> is enough and will standardize the references, although publisher and accessdate are also important for {{cite web}}.— Indon (reply) — 12:35, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

2 columns for notes section

edit

Hey, following on from our conversation last night, i am now at work and see that on my smaller screen with a higher resolution setting (17-inch) there is, like you said, only one column of notes. Even when i chose the highest resolution, i still only get 1 column here at work. But at home, with the highest resolution setting on my 19-inch widescreen, the text appears as two columns. It looks much better like that. --Merbabu 22:16, 12 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Portal:Indonesia/News

edit

Hi Imoeng, I've just got a message from an admin about format of news in a portal. It should follow a guideline and we don't have to search news by ourselves. In fact, we just monitor wikinews and put only Indonesia related news in the portal. Thus link to news source is not needed, because verification can be done at the corresponding wikinews.

Here, I copy pasted his message to me:

Hi Indon. In general, I've implemented the format utilised by the In the news section on the Main Page. This format is already followed by Portal:Australia, Portal:New Zealand, Portal:Oceania, Portal:United States and others. The news stories featured in Portal:Indonesia/Indonesia news are meant to be verifiable through corresponding entries on Portal:Current events/Southeast Asia. Happy editing, --cj | talk 10:12, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

So, I will change the news format in the portal. As a result, news archive page will not be used anymore. Cheers and good luck with your exams. — Indon (reply) — 11:09, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
