Hi, Ilya.

I see that the article was accepted, but someone else has marked it for deletion. Don't know if you'll be able to save it, but here's my two cents.

My strategy with the OnShape entry was this: Originally it focused on the company, which they didn't think was noteworthy enough.

Noticing that the OnShape software app was referenced in 10 or more other Wikipedia articles, I reworked it to be a minimal explanation of the uniqueness of the software, on the grounds that anyone seeing it referenced in another Wiki article should be able to get as quick "Here's the deal" on it. It worked!

Articles on LIVING PEOPLE are a bit different. They guard against execs having ego pieces placed on Wikipedia. Notice that I wrote one about Bradley Kay, who is an accomplished advertising exec, but not considered noteworthy enough and therefore rejected. However, his peer, Rob Sheppardson WAS considered notable enough.

What's the test for a living person?

1) Rob has been appointed to the President's Commission on Fitness (or whatever). THAT'S big-league.

2) He has also been the subject of many articles, in both advertising and general media over the years. We could make the case that he was a sought-after thinker on social communication.

Brad has been appointed to a couple of award committees, but that's apparently not noteworthy enough.

So the WikiGods' test seems to be, "Has the general media recognized this person as important BEYOND simply being qualified to do his job?"

SO – If I were to rework your article, I would look for definitive press mentions in multiple GENERAL INTEREST publications (like the Boston Globe, Fortune Magazine, etc.) that focused on John as a mover and shaker. THAT'S the heart and soul of your claim. I would make their references to his importance front and center of the article. All the details – career history, college, etc – are simply filler.

And be sure to LEAD with his claim to notability in the very first paragraph:

For example: "John Hirschtick is a leading innovator in CAD software development, responsible for two of the field's greatest breakthroughs..." (I'm not looking at your article right now. Forgive me if it says something much like that.)

You have to make him LARGER than "CEO of a software company who has been successful in the past."

Bottom line, he may not be notable enough yet. He may have to get his PR firm to get more placements and write-ups to substantiate his notability.

@Skydog10291971: Thank you very much for your answer, for very detailed examples and for your ideas how to prove notability! I'll rewrite the article. Am I right that I have atleast one week for it? @Skydog10291971: I have an idea about proving of notability of Jon Hirschtick. He is one of recipients of the CAD Society’s Leadership Award, and other recipients of this award include PLM decision-makers and CEOs such as Autodesk’s Carl Bass, and Dassault Systèmes’ Bernard Charles, as well as 3D Systems's Ping Fu. All of them are in Wikipedia, because they changed the world, as Jon Hirschtick. The only difference is that Hirschtick done it twice. Is it reasanoble? What do you think about it? (I see that you have this expirience, so I ask you. Sorry if I am too importunate) Ilya.lichman (talk) 12:07, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

The CAD Award is great. If that's the best thing you've got, make that your lead/lede. Be sure to mention the other Bigs that have won the award in the next sentence. That might be enough to put him over the top.

Again, I would spend the 1st graf (paragraph) making the statement as to his notability – without saying "What makes him notable" of course.

@Ilya.lichman: I just did a rework of the entire front section of the Hirschtick entry for you. You might want to check the REFs the be sure that the information included is still cited correctly. (I used the ones you had, but stated some additional facts which might not appear in them.)

@Skydog10291971: Thank you very much for these improvements! Also I found one more argument to prove that Hirschtick is notable: there are atleast three books +1 one book translated to Japanese about him (at least partially about him). What do you think about this?
