History of Manchuria edit

Hello, I'm sorry but i had to revert your edit to the article. Firstly, you can't add that Korea was part of the spheres of influence in the region in the 19th and 20th century when Korea itself was only independent between 1895 to 1910 and again (south only) in the second half of the 20th. Second, though you do need references to back your assertions, you cannot use a Wikipedia article itself as a source(though you could of course use the references therein). Lastly, the verb "occupied" in the article(near the Balhae Kingdom) only serves to mention where it was located, and your edit leaves the sentence unreadable because you've left it without a verb.

Hopfully this will clear everything up, --Macarenses (talk) 06:32, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • If you can find sources saying explicitly that it was in the sphere of influence then yes, but to me it just seems that since Korea itself was for many centuries ( including the 19th century) a tributary of empirial China and so it doesn't stand to reason(for me at least) that a tributary whose state affairs were controlled(to an extent of course) by a state would have a part of the same state in it's sphere of influence. It might be that the area you refer to has a cultural and historical connection to Korea but unless Korea had Influence over those areas then it's just not considered a sphere of influence, at least in the way i perceive the term.

Korean Language edit

That's because Korean is actually an official language in a Chinese province. The simple fact that the name appears in the names section is not evidence that the language is significantly used in Russia. Unless you can demonstrate that it's actually an official language in Russia, it doesn't belong in the list. And no, I don't think there are more Korean speakers in russia than china Yanbian_Korean_Autonomous_Prefecture#Culture, there are around a million ethnic Koreans in this province and the article denotes that most are bilingual. There aren't even that many ethnic Koreans in Russia. I really don't know what your drive is to add this to the article, but Korean is not a significant language there.--Crossmr (talk) 08:33, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
