Wizard191 (talk) 13:49, 11 January 2010 (UTC) {{helpme}}Hi Wizard191 and thanks for the welcome. As you know I am new and seem to have fallen foul or the rules already! I was just wondering why was my link to a resource about a type of circular saw less relevent than the other external links? One of which is a list of links related to noise in the workplace, another links to a sitesell page full of advertising and yet another that links to an Australian site selling safety method statements, not relevent to any other country and the last one links to a database about occupational tools?? I noticed that the page did not mention flip over saws which are a wonderful adaptation of saw technology, hence my keen support of them. I thought that a link that explains a little more about them would be useful and carries no advertising.Reply

I must admit, this has knocked my confidence of editing any pages here, especially as it was such a tiny edit too! Thanks again for your help and advice, Best regards Ianmanderson (talk) 05:50, 18 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's OK. I do not know why Wizard191 reverted you; maybe he can explain it below. Anyway, thank you for your contributions, and remember to be bold! Samwb123Please read 05:59, 18 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) Hi there, and welcome to Wikipedia again! First off, let me stress, please do not be discouraged. The fact that your change was undone was neither against you personally nor is it any indication of your potential to contribute here on Wikipedia. You are not expected to know all the policies and guidelines here by heart. In fact, one of our policies is ignore all rules, which, in short, says you should value contributing to the encyclopedia over trying to weave through red tape to ensure that what you do is "procedurally correct". So long as you are being constructive, nobody is going to hold anything against you.
That being said, while I am not the person that reverted the edit, I think your change was reverted because it was not reliable. In general, links to blogs should be avoided because they aren't necessarily of encyclopedic quality and their content is rarely verifiable.
Please, however, continue to contribute to your heart's desire; so long as you are being constructive, nobody's going to bite you. And continue on without fear. Only a very few, trusted individuals are capable of actually breaking something severely, and even then that damage can be repaired. Anything you do wrong can likely be undone or fixed in a matter of seconds.
I strongly encourage you, if you wish to get more information about why the link was removed, to contact User:Wizard191 directly on his talk page for more insight into exactly why the edit was removed. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask! Regards. --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 06:05, 18 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
