Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --Guinnog 02:29, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message. Your pattern of edits (adding links to the same site to many articles) was what drew my attention. I did evaluate the value of your site as well; as it requires submission before it can be used, I thought it would be less valuable as an external link to our readers. Please feel free to seek consensus in individual article talk pages for the addition. Best wishes, --Guinnog 08:22, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Monologue. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. I note that you've been adding the same link to multiple articles, that such edits account for virtually everything you've done on Wikipedia, and that you were cautioned about this seven years ago. Please desist. Rivertorch (talk) 08:56, 13 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hey Rivertorch! I added a section about the audition monologue on that page and I'd like to add a link to monologue search as a reference. This isn't an attempt to spam. That original link had been there for several years and I feel like it's completely legitimate. I'd like to add

<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.monologuesearch.com |title=Monologue Search |publisher=http://www.monologuesearch.com}}</ref>

to "Audition monologues". Most kids new to auditioning need a place to guide them. I've spent a lot of time refining the site for that purpose. That's about it. Wikipedia is one of the first places they will find and I'd really like to give them the chance to find monologue search. Thanks! - Justin

Hi, Justin. I can see that you mean well, but I have to tell you that, in looking over your contributions, I'm seeing a textbook example of a single-purpose account and a conflict of interest. While your basic purpose may be to help people find useful information, the method you've been using is to insert links to your own web site in various articles. That doesn't go over well around here. As an encylopedia, we have to be very careful to make sure we don't become something else as well, such as a repository of links. We do have strict standards for both external links and sources, and I suggest you familiarize yourself with them before making further edits. If you have questions about how the guidelines apply to your site (or whether they do), there are noticeboards where you can seek the opinion of other editors. All righty. No worries. I'll just keep plugging away. Maybe one day Monologue Search will have it's own Wikipedia page. Ha ha! Have a good one! Best, Justin
