Blocked edit

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for running a bot script on this account without approval. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Under the bot policy, all automated scripts must be approved by the Bot Approvals Group to ensure that they perform safe and useful functions without stressing system resources.

Request reason:

I was just welcoming people to the site, but I promise to stop. IamtheWelcomeMan (talk) 01:15, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Kuru (talk) 02:24, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Request reason:

I am sorry for what I did and have read the rules on bots (I did not know that what I did was against the rules). I plan to only make useful contributions from now on. Thanks for your time! IamtheWelcomeMan (talk) 3:35 am, 18 October 2013, Friday (10 days ago) (UTC+1)

Accept reason:

  • As a minor point of clarification: "indefinite" means "until the community is convinced that the behavior will not be repeated" and does not mean "infinite", so it will never be reduced "to something like a month" - the best you can hope for with a properly WP:GAB-compliant request is complete removal of the block ... whereas the "worst" would be being provided WP:OFFER ES&L 22:39, 18 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
