This was not deleted by me, but by Anetode (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) at 15:04, September 18, 2008. The reason given was blatant advertising.

I'm not quite in agreement with this rationale, so here's a few things you could work on to avoid a similar deletion:

  1. Sourcing: I saw lots of references, but were they appropriate to the content? The subject of the article needs to have its notability properly sourced by 3rd party, independent, verifiable and reliable sources. These sources must discuss the subject in a significant, nontrivial way, so as to establish its notability according to Wikipedia's notability criteria for companies and organizations.
  2. Stay on topic: Sections such as "Global Hydraulic Cylinder Market" are off-topic, as the article is about this specific company, not a platform delve into the logistics of the industry.
  3. Citation style: Citing appropriate sources for various statements in your article should use an appropriate citation style. There are a few to choose from (see the link at the beginning of this point), but the most common simply surrounds your reference link or {{cite}} citation template with the <ref></ref> tags after the end of the sentence or paragraph. Your footnotes are actually external links, like this [1]. An appropriate format would read something like this:
    • <ref>[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page Wikipedia Main Page]</ref>, which would produce a link like this: Wikipedia Main Page
    • Single straight brackets contain the hyperlink, and a space between them indicates the end of the link URL and the beginning of the link text. (Internal links are formatted slightly differently, with double straight brackets and a pipe separating the internal link and the link text, like I did just now: [[Vertical bar|pipe]] .
    • Using proper citation styles suggests a greater attention to formatting, a strong implication that you are not a spammer or single-purpose account.
  4. Active editing: If you choose to edit your article in the main space, using an {{inuse}} or {{underconstruction}} template at the top should indicate to more observant editors that you're not done yet. They can still tag the article, and admins could still choose to delete it in midstream, but the chances are less likely, and you're more likely to have a case at Wikipedia:Deletion review.
  5. References and external links: References are thereafter shown in a special section ==References==, under which you place a {{reflist}} or <references />, which automatically pulls all of the <ref></ref> tagged information into a footnotes section.

account deletion

edit

Obviously, if you can log in, your account is still active. Your user page was deleted by me on 12:05, September 18, 2008 as a test page. Typically, we encourage users wanting a sandbox area to test in or work on articles before introducing them to the main article space is to create a subpage, i.e. User:Hotdogcartman/Hyco International Inc, which I've conveniently created for you and pasted to contents of the deleted article for you to work on. Place a {{helpme}} tag, or a message directly onto the talk page of any experienced user to have it peer reviewed for possible re-insertion into the main space, signing your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

I hope all of this helps! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 19:37, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
