The life blood of modern short stories is the internet. Therefore, the section of this article pertaining to modern short stories should provide more useful information about these online publications. The New Yorker and other paper publications are mentioned in this article. Why can't a few of the most popular and professional online publications be included as well. These references are not senseless plugs or ads. They are valuable information to readers and writers of short stories.

I am an English professor and use these sites daily, as do many other educators. This article is too anchored in the past. Along with its history and general short story guildlines, it should also point readers in the right direction when it comes to modern short story publications. The New Yorker is not keeping this type of literature alive, websites like Under This Red Rock and East of the Web are however. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Short story (talkcontribs)

Can you tell me why you picked these particular sites? There are hundreds of short story sites on the web. We can't list them all, both for practical purposes - the list would swamp the article - and because Wikipedia is not a web guide. So, if we are to link to just the "best" sites we need a way to decide which ones to cover. Wikipedia works by using the judgment of independent, published sources, not of its own editors. This is how we ensure we maintain a neutral point of view. So can you point to such sources that say that Under This Red Rock and East of the Web are particularly noteworthy? If so, you can cite those sources and add the links. Otherwise you cannot. Thanks for understanding, Gwernol 22:17, 26 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
