Barnstars

edit

Hey. You asked me about barnstars, and how I introduced them (well, a bit). I honestly wouldn't do anything different. I just awarded a few, in a manner that I thought would be a good idea, and put a description of the concept on the image page. I didn't make a big thing of it, or make a proposal, or argue with the community about whether they were a good idea. I just tried it a few times, and wondered if it would spread. I don't think it's possible to force ideas like this on a community the size of wikipedia: better to just do them yourself, and see what happens. It's about influence, not control.

Hello Holycharly, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Professione reporter film.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Holycharly. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 05:40, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Scrolling reference lists

edit

I have reverted your change to Avatar (2009 film). Scrolling reference lists are never to be used, they are effectively banned. See MOS:SCROLL and WP:ASL for more information. Thank you. kollision (talk) 09:54, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Permission request to use one of your pictures in a textbook

edit

I would like to include your picture of the gazelles in the Alhambra Vase http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Granada_Alhambra_gazelle_Poterie_9019.JPG in a textbook. I wanted to confirm that would be OK with you, and ask how the picture should be credited (this being printed text, I could include a real name/location/whatever). I can also be contacted at thechabon A-T hotmail D-O-T com. Iiiiaaaa (talk) 15:57, 14 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
