Dorothy Hyson edit
The first Wikipedia page and woman I have chosen was Dorothy Hyson who I thought would be very interesting in looking at. Going through Dorothy Hyson Wikipedia page I stumbled across less information about her background information, due to it only mentioning about her birth date and where she was born and bred as well as, her death. Therefore, I wanted to enlighten the Wikipedia page by adding an inspiration from her past also where she got her talents from. I then did research about her background and came across about her mother, Dorothy Dickson. She is a well-known star, due to herself being involved in a comedy musical, this came to show where hyson had got her talents and inventiveness from.
Mair Russell Jones edit
The second Wikipedia page i have come across was Mair Russell Jones, who came to my interest as she seemed very interesting to research about. In this particular source I had come to discover how the writer had covered on Mair Russell Jones book called the Secret life[1]. I have then decided to give a brief summary on the expectations when it does go in depth to the book in particular. As I gave the main points of what the book will present such as her behaviour towards the major event that she has passed through her life. In addition to this, I wanted to give a insight of what the reader would expect to read on the next section of 'Her Book’[2]. I have used the supportive book [1]. That had allowed me to support the brief summary of the book. Another supportive source I have used is the BBC News, that explores through the talks of her experience of the war, as well as her book that she has written. [BBC News 1].
Mavis Batey edit
Finally, the last woman I have selected was Mavis Batey who came to a interest as to the article being less descriptive, which made me want to research a lot more about this particular Bletchley park participant. In this particular article, i have seen that the Author did not use enough background information about her achievements, as I believe showing that is very useful due to knowing more about the main person in the article. By including her awards or perhaps a book that she maybe has produced. Therefore, I had decided to research about more of her background achievements, I had stumbled across an award she got which was on the memorial medal of the Royal Horticultural Society that was in the year 1985. As well as her very known book called Dilly: The man who broke enigmas. In addition to this, I was able to fill in the empty gaps that needed to be covered, that made the article look a lot more appealing and descriptive.
Wikipedia Experience edit
My experience through Wikipedia has by far become a very interesting platform to work on, and a whole new learning curve by editing orginal pieces which is something I have never done before, that made the experience very entertaining to be a part of. I would never in mind see myself using this platform as today I have, I have come to the interest of how many different people are involved through this platform. As today I have written about three important women of Bletchley park who have become an inspiration by using their talents, as well as expressing their opinions and works to others especially men as in this day and era males tend to overtake the business of editing. This platform has proven that women can empower this technique to, as I am a female myself by editing and participating through it . I feel as though this platform, allows every individual to participate especially a platform of women who can show their work ethic and more. The platform has come to a community of understanding individual life of people who have shown amazing talents, work as well as motivation. This has definitely inspired me and others in the community, to participate through the platform. This is explained through Christian Pentzold article New Media and Society explains about the community of individualities.
