Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for contributing to the Kermit Love article.

Wikipedia has policies about what kind of information that should be included in an article. Since you're just starting out, you may want to read over the complete policy on sources. To summarize the policy, all information in Wikpedia articles must be sourced to "reliable, third-party published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy".

This means that information you've been personally told, however true it may be, shouldn't be added to an article until there is a published source to back it up.

So, please ask Mr. Lyall to provide some publicly available sources for Kermit Love's real complete name. Until we have such a source, we have to go with the most reliable source we do have, which at the moment are the published news reports.

I know it's frustrating! I've run into this barrier myself -- I heard a favorite writer speak about his writing process, but because what he said is just second-hand hearsay coming from me, I couldn't add it to the articles about his work. Everything on Wikipedia is meant to have a published source.

Thanks! And, again, welcome!

Fixing name spelling on Kermit Love

edit

Hi, I'm not sure exactly how best you can prove the name needs changing but there is instructions and an email contact at Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Factual error (from subject) where you can send a note explaining the situation. In this case they will need the name of the article Kermit Love, the change and some proof that is compelling compared to the reliable sources already available. Good luck and feel free to ask for more help if you wish. Banjeboi 04:57, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

If Mr. Lyall contacts the New York Times, we can also just reference them when they print a correction. Dybryd (talk) 18:19, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Kurt Reifler has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.youtube.com/kurtreifler. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page.
