Etilyas village

Etilyas means ( Eti-lya-sa, dead tree) is a small village in the northern part on Namibia namely owamboland. Its situated about 7 kilometer from Okahao town to Otamanzi, meaning that its between from Okahao to Otamanzi in Otamanzi consituency in Ongandjera tribal.

Etilyas is nearby the salt lake (salt pan) which situated between Omalika and Onkaankaa village which many people does not know about. Otamanzi consituency is one of the consituency that contribute foods to San people in and around Onkanka village by Honorable Johannes Iiyambo council of Otamanzi consituency.[1]

Honorable Petrus Iilonga, Deupty Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forest was born in Etilyas on 8 January 1947. [2] Honourable Saara Kuugongwela-Amadhila, Minister of Finance was born on 12 October 1967 at Otamanzi in Okahao, Omusati Region. She left for exile in 1980 and completed her secondary schooling in Sierra Leone. After independence she gained a BSC in Economics at Lincoln University in the United States of America.[3] However,In the northern-west of Etilyas there is Etuda village where our foudation President of the Republic of Namibia Honorable Sam Nuujoma was born on 12 May 2012 .[4]

Infrastructure

  • Etilyas has one Primary School which named after the dead tree ( Etilyas Primary School), one combined school ( Ngendjo Combined School).
  • In 2002 the gorvenment of Republic of Namibia together with Nored of Namibia answered to Etilyas villager's prayer by installed electricity in Etilyas shebeens which lead to better development.
  • One branch of police station.
  • One church
  • One gravel from Okahao to Etilyas
