My talk page is in a mess!

Adoption edit

I'd be willing to adopt you. Let me know on my talk page. I've been here for a while now and I know a lot of wiki syntax so let me know. Cheers. Mww113 (talk) 15:59, 14 June 2008 (UTC) Thank you! I'd love adoption :) I'm a bit frightened of doing many edits on subjects I know lest they be considered vandalism and reverted... or generally messing something up. :( Helenginn (talk) 09:46, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Great, in that case, consider youself adopted! Mww113 (talk) 11:18, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

What are you supposed to do when there's something you're not sure about as to whether it's vandalism or not? Referring to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Theodore_Roosevelt_High_School_%28Gary%29&diff=219680522&oldid=215532304 - how do you ask someone if this is correct? Can you flag an edit?

No, unfortunally you can't :(. As for notifing somone, it's best to use your own judgement. If you think it is but your unsure, revert with the edit summary "Not sure if this is vandalism or not". I just reverted it however, so no need to worry about it. Helenginn can we take future decussion to my classroom? I will be better able to answer your questions there. I don't want us to fill up (not that theres a limit, things would just be very messy) our talk pages in one day XD. Mww113 (talk) 11:43, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Classroom edit

Would you be ready for me to start giving you assignments? Mww113 (talk) 12:07, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yup, that'll be fine. I'll be done with exams in about ... 4 days and I'll have even more time then, but start them earlier too! :D

Oh dear, I'm totally confused as to whether I put talkback on your page now, or when I ... no... yes... yes. I'll be away for about an hour and thirty minutes while I do a practise biology paper! Helenginn (talk) 12:16, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok, Ill leave a few for you to do when you have the time. Just place :{{done}} ~~~~ under an assignment when you have finished with it. Mww113 (talk) 12:18, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry I seem to have ruined your talk page :( I'll tidy it up when you've seen it :) 12:19, 16 June 2008 (UTC)~~
Seems fine to me Mww113 (talk) 12:31, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rollback edit

I've heard that you've tried to revert vandalism by undoing the edit. There is a faster feature called rollback, which other vandal-fighters, and myself, maintain. If you want, you could request for it at the WP:RFR (Requests for Rollback) page, but maybe you should make sure that you're experienced enough on how to revert vandalism. ;) SchfiftyThree 19:27, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh, I thought that was admins only! Thank you for mentioning it :) I'm very slow with the undoing edits, so maybe that would help... Helenginn (talk) 19:29, 16 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits edit

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 11:17, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I signed it afterwards, you just beat me to it! :P Helenginn (talk) 11:26, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Huggle edit

Hey, thanks :) Why don't you try applying for rollback and downloading Huggle too? It really speeds things up! Gail (talk) 11:33, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've applied for rollback so far, and I may download Huggle after that. Thank you :) For now I just make do with undoing edits, although slow I catch one or two! Helenginn (talk) 11:34, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Heh, that's the longer route :p In case you don't get rollback, you could try downloading one of the older versions of Huggle; only the most recent version requires you to have rollback on your account. Good luck! Gail (talk) 11:38, 17 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Anti-Vandal Tools edit

Hi, you could also check out Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts/Scripts/Twinkle which helps with dealing with vandalism, lets u roll back, revert etc & issue warnings v. easily....works fine for me in Firefox (But doesn’t work with MS Internet Explorer yet I believe). Gail always beats me to reverts as well :), Best Wishes!

I haven't noticed you in my classroom lately, so I thought I'd drop in to tell you that you have a new assignment. Best Wishes, Mww113 (talk)

New assignments edit

I added some. :D Mww113 (talk) 12:16, 24 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations edit

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal was to gather feedback to help design a tool that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

We are particularly interested in feedback from new editors! We want to make sure this tool meets your needs.

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 23:04, 12 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
