WBOSITG's RfA

Trying to write article

Hi Haz, thanks for responding to my problem on 9th May. The title of the article I am writing is PV Crystalox Solar PLC. The article disappeared when I tried saving it. I can't recover it?! Just for background the company features in the FTSE 250, but there are no links or details to access on it. I am desperately trying to write up something. I believe it is most legitimate for an article to be written about the company as it was very much a pioneer in the the whole science of crytal growth for the solar energy sector.

I have been practicing on the Sandbox, but my latest experience is that when I saved the Sandbox it comes up with "The database has been automatically locked while the slave database servers catch up to the master". I now have trouble accessing that. I have an article in word format. I really need to get the article on soon. Can you help?!David de Leyser (talk) 12:18, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

User:DundeeParkDist

You added unreferenced tag in a userpage? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 18:24, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I was originally waiting for Dundee township park district to be deleted so that I could move the userpage to the mainspace under that name. I then realised that it should in fact have been moved to Dundee Township Park District, with the correct capitalisation, so I moved the page and stuck a CSD tag on the original userpage. Sorry for the confusion. haz (talk) 18:32, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Thanks for the welcome

Today is my 1st day of membership into Wikipedia and I am quite lost but managing. The message I got from you is very encouraging and in this era of bots and templates, the letter looks unique. Anyway, if it happens to be computer generated, Im amazed and nevertheless pleased considering this site is not a commercial one. I still have a lot to learn and I surely will be in touch in the future. Mixupmusic (talk) 14:51, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Page Inconsistencies

Being the 1st admin I get to know , pardon me for passing on to you a possible error I saw in a certain page. I tried to look for the proper venue to post this matter but being my 1st day as a Wikipedian, I cant find it. So I will pass it on to you and maybe you can do something about it. Or you can advise me on how I can fix it if indeed it needs fixing.

The matters that I think need clarification pertains to this statement-- "We Built This City" is a song written by Bernie Taupin, Martin Page, Dennis Lambert, and Peter Wolf, and originally recorded by the group Starship and released as its debut single on November 10, 1985. in this page [1] which I think is inconsistent with this statement--- They also created the song "We Built This City" in 1984, which Starship made famous. from this page [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Supply ]

Ill leave it up to you

Cheers —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mixupmusic (talkcontribs) 18:13, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your post

Hi Haza-w. I saw your post here. You might want to look at Wikipedia:Assume bad faith and User:Java7837/userboxing/badfaith. Not really related to your essay, but I thought that you might be interested. -- Suntag 07:05, 14 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Welllington College GA

Just to let you know, I've reviewed Wellington College. It's not yet ready for GA, but I've placed it on hold and left comments on the review page. Feel free to discuss any of those points with me. All the best, Gwinva (talk) 04:52, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree, it certainly has the potential to be a great article, if you've got the energy and time to work on it. Sources should be easy to find. Google books has a good selection of sources for investigating the history. A quick glance yields one which discusses its institution as a school for orphaned sons of officers (there's the Wellington connection), another has old lesson formats and subjects, old pupils (and army influence), architecture influences, fees and social class in past, early master and so on. Thank you

Haz--thanks for noticing. I happen to know that this poet is not crazy about the photo so I deleted it. Hopefully someone will put the W.W. Norton author photo by Colleen McKay up. Brokennews (talk) 21:00, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

re: shit happens

I was not trying to promote anything. there are other articles, books and movies listed on that page that are pre-dated by the book and bumper sticker that my company holds the rights to and the fact that it is unacknowledged and consistently removed from the page is ridiculous. research "the officialshit notebook" and you will find out that we have had a copyright on officialshit since 1982 when we released both the book and "shit happens" bumper sticker together. I have placed this on the site repeatedly in the same manner as all the other "promotional" items on that page, yet I am the only one telling the truth and I am the only one being removed! I would like a direct email to turdworld@officialshit.com or a phone call, this is just ridiculous. Aldencleanthes (talk) 18:13, 2 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Redirect of Hulon crayton

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Hulon crayton, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Hulon crayton is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Hulon crayton, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Page Change Good Earth Teas

Hello Haza, Thank you for the message. I'm afraid as a new contributor I am not familiar with all of the rules and code needed to make changes to a page. The information that was there previously was not completely correct, so I am glad that it has been replaced. I'll see if I can muddle through "citiations" and "verification". I have source material, just not sure how to enter it... Regards! Keepgeweird (talk) 00:03, 4 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

RfA Support/Oppose?

The irony of your support is a bit confusing -- here? I'm not certain whether you support or oppose the WP:Rfa for Gladys j cortez; and I'm guessing that ambiguity wasn't your ultimate objective? --Tenmei (talk) 19:33, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Viscosity

Well, this derivation is not straight forward and takes some time to do, although it is not too difficult! But since it needs explanations that requires other derivations it will take some time I expect. What one could do is perhaps to write that "It has been suggested that the following equation is..." on the Viscosity page... If time allows for it sometime I will show it, but no time now... cheers... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.221.0.3 (talk) 12:01, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
