Edit to Egypt

edit

Hi, glad to see you joined WikiProject Africa. Just to let you know I just reverted your change to Egypt because I think only Project pages are supposed to be in Category:WikiProject Africa, not the articles that are overseen by the project. If you know what I mean. Thanks, Belovedfreak 12:07, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank

edit

A tag has been placed on Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 69.123.113.89 09:04, 1 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Deyaar logo.PNG

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Deyaar logo.PNG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Diblogo.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Diblogo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:56, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Translation request

edit

Hello there. I got your name from Category:Translators ar-en. I'm currently working on the article for Honoré de Balzac's novel La Peau de Chagrin. In it, he includes this writing, another image of which can be found here. The writing is (from what I can tell) Arabic, and the translation from the book is here. I wonder if you can tell me how accurate it is. Thanks in advance for your assistance. – Scartol • Tok 13:54, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not autoblock, but

The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open or anonymizing proxy, such as a VPN service. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

If you are using an open proxy or VPN service, you will need to disable it or turn it off in order to edit Wikipedia.

If you believe you are not using an anonymizing proxy, the most likely cause is that another customer using your IP address who was previously assigned this IP address was running an open proxy. You may appeal this block by adding the following text on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is _______. Place any further information here. ~~~~}}. You must fill in the blank with your IP address for this block to be investigated. Your IP address can be determined here. Alternatively, if you wish to keep your IP address private you can use the Unblock Ticket Request System.

More rarely, your network equipment or that of your service provider may be misconfigured or compromised by malicious software (such as a virus). For more information, see the WikiProject on Open Proxies.

Administrators: The IP block exemption user right should only be applied to allow users to edit using an open or anonymizing proxies in exceptional circumstances, and they should usually be directed to the functionaries team via email. If you intend to give the IPBE user right, a CheckUser needs to take a look at the account. This can be requested most easily at SPI Quick Checkuser Requests. Unblocking an IP or IP range with this template is highly discouraged without at least contacting the blocking administrator.

So are you editing via a proxy?  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:43, 17 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

FYI, 86.96.226.22 is a confirmed open proxy. Looks like a university computer that has been hacked.... Sailsbystars (talk) 13:52, 19 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Parochial patronages in French Algeria

edit

Hello, Haytham abulela!

I saw and chose your name among the list here [1], mostly because I could read that, in addition of being honored by a B.A. English language and Literature, you are also of Arabic native language and, most of all: you can also read French.

The main reason of my current request is essentially based on the fact that, on behalf of the main author of the aforesaid article (which was originally published on the French Wikipedia, under the following title: Patronages de l’Algérie française), I am currently looking for an expert who would be in position to translate this article in Arabic language for ar.wikipedia; this is also due to the fact that its content is partially linked to history of Algeria.

Would you kindly accept this challenging mission? If so, I’d be most grateful, given that this would greatly imply your altruistic devotion.

Hoping to hear from you, soon!

In the meantime, I remain

Yours faithfully!

Hi, Haytham abulela!
Thank you for your answer!
Maybe my former message was not clear enough.

Please, note that, though the orginal text was written in French, under the title Patronages de l’Algérie française, I was mostly prone to asking you the favor to translate it in Arabic, by inspiring yourself from the English version, which can be found on en.wp, by clicking on this hyperlink below:

Would this be feasable?
Please, kindly let me know!
Kindest regards!
