Egypt and Anwar Sadat

edit

Greetings. :) I appreciate your comments in Talk:Egypt. It seems someone has taken a U.S. gov't. abstract on Egypt, changed a few words and tried to present it as an accurate picture of the country. User:Zerida has been particularly zealous in an effort to expunge the darker peoples of Egypt from the page/article. I'm running into some of the same afrophobia at Anwar Sadat. The image of Louis Gossett, Jr., as Anwar Sadat has been repeatedly expunged from the article -- with various excuses offered. (It's very telling, I think, that the Egyptian actor chosen by the government to portray Sadat looks nothing like him -- but that's the image that repeatedly has been substituted for the Gossett one.) I think both images should be on the page, but others seem hell-bent on obliterating it. I'd appreciate it if you'd take a look and weigh on. There needs to be some reason, some balance. Thanks. deeceevoice 07:00, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

What exactly should be edited about Anwar Sadat? I don't have much information on him, but I'm glad to help if I was precisely directed. Haisook 20:20, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Spooky Kid.png

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Spooky Kid.png. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:06, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

We need your help!

Hi, Haisook. A new WikiProject about Egypt was proposed. You can read the details here. I thought you would be interested, so, if you are add your name to the list. We need your effort. Thank you.

Thanks, Meno25! I've just added my name. - Haisook 12:28, 25 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for participating.

--Meno25 01:38, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I created a temporary page for the project at Wikipedia:WikiProject Egypt/Temp. Feel free to modify it.
--Meno25 04:07, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'll try to participate as much as I can. But due to being interested in other subjects, my participation is going to be relatively small. I'll begin with tagging appropriate articles. Thanks. - Haisook 13:38, 26 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Nsync band.gif

edit
  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Nsync band.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:26, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Horse-man.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Horse-man.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ElinorD (talk) 23:01, 13 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Casio DD 3990 Main Functions.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Casio DD 3990 Main Functions.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Replaceable fair use Image:Casio SF-2000.jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Casio SF-2000.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rossrs (talk) 08:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:SonySL.Misaligned.Faceplate.Edges.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 16:34, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Nomination of Jun Fujiki for deletion

edit

A discussion has begun about whether the article Jun Fujiki, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jun Fujiki until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. D O N D E groovily Talk to me 05:44, 22 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

File:Renal Diuretics.gif is in error

edit

The illustration places the Na+/K+/2Cl- transporter in the descending loop of Henle instead of in the ascending thick limb, and the Mg++/Ca++ transporter in the thin medullary segment instead of in the thick ascending limb. Also, could you mark the active site of loop diuretics as you did for the thiazides and K+ -sparing diuretics? No doubt you are busy, but perhaps you could edit your illustration and upload a revision when you have a spare moment. Yappy2bhere (talk) 21:30, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Haisook, Some friends of mine are organizing a workshop in Amman in April and I thought you'd be a great addition. It sounds like they also have participation grants if you would like to apply? http://www.zerogeography.net/2012/02/open-invitation-to-workshop-in-amman.html Let me know if you have any questions and I'll pass them on. Contests

edit

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:22, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
