Interwiki Question edit

Hello, you recently added interwiki nl to Reproductive system. Many other languages have interwikied to it as well. What I can't figure out is what function do these links have? On the English article, they don't appear or have any functionality that I see, and I can't figure out what they do on the other language pages? I have been doing wikipedia for awhile, but I hve been unable to figure out the purpose of them. I was hoping you could tell me what these do. Thanks. Earthdirt (talk) 15:49, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi Earthdirt,
An interwiki provides the link to the same article in another language in the languages column on the bottom left-hand side of a wikipedia webpage, hence the name 'inter' (between)- 'wiki' (wikipedia webpage). In the example you mentioned this means I added the link to the wikipage of the Reproductive system on the Dutch wikipedia (which is defined by the adding of the letters 'nl', just as the interwiki to the English page is defined by the letters 'en'). I hope this answers your question. If not, ask away! Greetings,--GuustFlater (talk) 12:45, 8 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
