- The article wasn't written by Iranians, it was written by me, mostly based on a 1911 Encyclopedia Brittanica article. I must confess that I know very little about Middle Eastern history, so I don't quite understand the "political/national purposes" you are describing. Doesn't "Ajam" in this case refer to Persians? Why is this controversial? What political purpose does it serve to call the area Persian Iraq? It was inhabited by Persians, right? Regardless, the article wasn't written with any politic purposes in mind. "Persian Iraq" is an English language term, whereas "Iraqi Ajam" is a transliteration. Wikipedia naming conventions favor using the English term: "Convention: Name your pages in English and place the native transliteration on the first line of the article, unless the native form is more commonly recognized by readers than the English form."
