Greetings, and welcome to Wikipedia. I think that you should check out WP:VANITY, as all of your edits are merely links to your personal webpage. -- Mtruch 04:39, 27 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

  • In response to a private email sent to me by User:Grfiv: I stand by my original claim; all of your edits (to wikipedia pages, not to your own user page) are merely links to your personal webpage. I am not claiming that your webpage is bad, or you're using it to profit monetarily, or even that your statement “It is not commercial or in any way inappropriate and it is written in what I take to be the Wiki spirit of sincere, informed sharing of knowledge” is not true. However, you are using wikipedia to promote your own page, which seems to clearly fall into the vanity links definition on WP:VANITY. Furthermore you're not providing wikipedia with any other content, which does violate the spirit of the Wiki, in that your sincere, informed sharing of knowledge is freely available for other people to use, edit, modify, and delete. It is one thing to provide useful information to a wikipedia article and then in the links section link to ones own personal page about further details of such a topic. It is another to use wikipedia as part of a link farm and nothing more. Mtruch 13:09, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
