Java OpenGL publicity edit

Please stop adding your self-publicity. No one reading the article should care about your website, and you are making everyone a disservice by providing bad quality code. Sam Hocevar (talk) 11:10, 23 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I will simply remove the URL in order to clarify the situation. I included it into the comment when I was not yet registered on Wikipedia to allow people to contact me, not to use the article about JOGL as a billboard for any "self-publicity", it is no more necessary. However, you conclusively accuse me of self-publicity which is absolutely nonsensical as I'm the contributor responsible for engine support at JogAmp Foundation as you can see here: http://jogamp.org/wiki/index.php/Maintainer_and_Contacts#Julien_Gouesse This source code is a complete self-contained example, yours was too short and not helpful at all. JOGL is the main Java binding for the OpenGL (and OpenGL-ES) API, not a straight rudimentary binding. In my humble opinion, an example showing a few calls is simply useless. I have never claimed that this short example was very clean but it can be run as is.--Gouessej (talk) 15:27, 23 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have to tell you that I'm really shocked bu such accusations, you have just forgotten that I have made all JogAmp users a great service since 2006 by porting Java3D, Ardor3D, JMonkeyEngine 3, Nifty GUI, Xith3D ... to JOGL 2.0 as you can see here: http://jogamp.org/jogl/www/ I have to remind you that the URL that bothered you has been removed and it was pointing to my project which has been used for several years as an example of JOGL application by the university of Blumenau. --Gouessej (talk) 15:40, 23 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Oh, you are shocked by such accusations? Did you or did you not write the following text?
Je suis bien l'auteur de ce code source et en retirer la mention de
l'attribution relève de la violation du droit de paternité. Je me
réserve le droit d'envoyer une copie du présent message à mon avocat
Maître Jérémie Assous. Je vous prie d'agréer mes salutations distinguées.

I therefore suggest you keep your self publicity outside of Wikipedia. Sam Hocevar (talk) 16:12, 30 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I suggest you to respect the laws --Gouessej (talk) 00:20, 31 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Is that a threat? I am not impressed by threats. I know the laws, thank you very much. In the meantime, I removed the self-publicity again and will ask willing third parties to give their opinion on the insane and useless length of the sample code. Sam Hocevar (talk) 04:05, 31 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

It's not a threat and the few sentences you quote compose a (polite) reminder unlike the words you use to quality my contributions in the French version of Wikipedia ("cancer"): http://fr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Java_OpenGL&diff=86895149&oldid=82026208 Using the full name to mention the attribution of an unregistered user's work is a common practice, not self-publicity. You asked me to remove the URL, I did so. You wanted me to remove my full name, I did so (in the French version). Now you insist to remove my source code whereas yours was useless because it doesn't mention the following elements: the GL interface, the OpenGL profile, the animator (if any) and the canvas. I don't see the interest of publishing a very incomplete and not working example that doesn't mention the key elements to make an application based on JOGL work. I would be glad to hear your suggestions to improve the self-contained example but I will ask willing third parties to give their opinion on the useless and not working source code you provided if necessary. I will try to shorten the sample code, it seems to be your main concern. --Gouessej (talk) 09:57, 31 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have shortened the example, I hope it's better now.--Gouessej (talk) 11:11, 31 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
