Melbourne PC User Group
Melbourne PC User Group was founded in Melbourne, Australia, in September 1983 and, with more than 5000 members currently (it peaked at more than 10,000), is one of the largest PC user groups in the world.
It has a fulltime staff based at its offices at 479 Warrigal Road, Moorabbin, where there are also drop-in facilities for members and where meetings of many of its SIGs (Special Interest Groups) are held on a regular basis. SIGs also meet in several suburban and regional centres.
The group provides a limited "dial help" service where several dozen members commit to providing other members with telephone help (the list is published monthly and sent out with the monthly magazine). Other services include PC Update, the monthly magazine, a Monthly Disk of suggested shareware (which also includes videos of the main monthly meeting) provided at an extra cost, a dial-up internet service, webmail which includes a free email address for members, and training classes.
