April 2013 edit

There used to be a block here. I editted the POTUSA page for XKCD 1193, but I shouldn't have.

(Original unblock request) Sorry. This block was technically correct, but I do not intend on any further vandalism/disruption. I was only trying to participate in the April Fools interactive XKCD (See: http://xkcd.com/1193/). One component of the comic is controlled by references on Wikipedia, the current one being POTUSA (See screenshot with hint in tooltip here: http://imgur.com/YCPYdxK). I had every intention of removing the false "Bed Bath and Beyond" reference once the comic had been updated. Won't happen again.
(Declined) Unprejudiced procedural decline just to get your talkpage off the "users requesting unblock" list, since your reply to m.o.p. indicates that you're content (or at least willing) to accept a two-day block. I wish more blocked users were so reasonable... We'll see you in a couple of days. Yunshui  09:22, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'm well-aware of the XKCD comic - after all, it's responsible for an amazing number of charitable donations so far. However, as great as Randall is, both at inspiring goodwill and crafting brilliant comics, we still have an encyclopedia to maintain.
If you'd like, I can set your block to expire in two days, after a new comic is out. Or, if you can make a moving appeal, I can think about unblocking you. Normally, we don't block on first offence, but the amount of disruption this comic is bringing in has changed that for today.
Wikipedians are really friendly, though. I swear. Regards, m.o.p 04:43, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Understood. Yea, I can only imagine the number of edits coming in. I hadn't really considered the scale before making the edit. A two day block is reasonable to me. I did, after all, break the rules. Sorry again for the hassle of having to revert a whole pile of these... Thanks, Goorpy (talk) 05:52, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for understanding and being civil. I've set the block to expire on Thursday morning. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know - either here or on my talk page. Regards, m.o.p 18:38, 2 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I've replied to your message on my talk page, just so you know. Best, m.o.p 04:56, 5 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thought I'd drop you a welcome message. You're by no means obligated to read all of those links, or any at all, but it's helpful if you'd like to edit some pages. Or, feel free to ask if you have any questions. If you'd like to clear the messages above (the blocks and warnings) you're welcome to do so now that you've been unblocked. Again, welcome to Wikipedia! m.o.p 05:21, 5 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
