Welcome messages

I will take your suggestion into accoutn when I get around to editing my welcome template. That has been one problem balancing welcome messages. They need to be set in a template so they can be quickly used, but they are usually impersonal. As to how I found your talk page, I sometimes scan recent changes in order to see which users have a red-linked talk page (ie one that has never had a posting). that is how most people that do wikiwelcomes find people to welcome, so I honestly could not say which of your edits I found you through. Someone would have welcomed you earlier, but you slipped under the radar of the welcoming committee. For example, I started editing last Feb, but I didn't get a welcome message until May.
