editHello, I'm Graham87. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Levant Company have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Alexander Shirreff
editIn the article Charles Shirreff (painter), the external link you added to his father's name (Alexander Shirreff) went to http://www.levantineheritage.com/note93.htm. Your edit was deleted, since that particular page makes no mention of any member of the Shirreff family.
I searched for the name Shirreff on the site, and I got one result. This PDF, a register of people admitted to membership in the Levant Company, includes Alexander Shirreff's name among hundreds of other merchants on the list. That fact has no obvious relevance to an article about his son, the painter Charles Shirreff. I don't believe it's appropriate to mention or link to it, not unless you've got other sources that would establish Alexander's membership as being especially relevant to his son Charles. Am I missing anything here? Lwarrenwiki (talk) 15:58, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
Dear K Warren
I left a note in the edits to say that information regarding Alexander Shirreff to be added shortly. If the website link is not possible to add to Charles Shirreff, any chance of opening a page for Alexander Shirreff. I own a document that references Alexander Shirreff. I am new to Wikipedia.
