Welcome and a question

edit

Hi -- thanks for the fixes to List of ice cores, and welcome to Wikipedia -- it looks like you've been around a while but haven't edited much.

I noticed your professional expertise mentioned on your user page, and I wonder if you would be able to help with finding a source. I started history of ice drilling some time ago, but ran out of steam because I couldn't find much on drilling development between about 1910 and 1950. I think the page needs to be split in two anyway, since a full history of ice drilling from Agassiz to today would be an enormous article. The natural break would seem to be before the 1950s, when ice coring gets started and multiple expeditions are launched. To do that I would need more information about what drilling was taking place between 1910 and 1950. Would you be able to point me at any resources that cover this period? Anything that gives details of drill development, expeditions launched, scientific papers about drilling or the results of those expeditions, or anything related would be helpful. If you've no time to help, I understand. Thanks, and if you have any questions about Wikipedia I can help with, let me know. @Mike Christie: I will help where I can. I will try to ask around in the Office in Copenhagen. -I may ask about wikipedia. It is still a little confusing to me.

That would be great; thanks for anything you can find out. If you post a note either here or on my talk page I'll see it. Thanks! Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 14:27, 25 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
