Help me!

edit

{{help me}} My bio page was taken down by someone names Verno Whitney, with no other explanation than that is was "copied from another page." Since this was my personal bio, listing facts about my life and accomplishments, I'm unaware of what page he felt had been copied from, and when I emailed him about it, I only received a form letter and was not given a link to the original problem so I could see what he was talking about. Can someone help me to a. see the page that had been taken down, b. identify the text he felt was "copied.," and c. give me good instructions on how to make sure my page is restored.

Within Wikipedia, everybody is effectively anonymous. We have no way of checking who you really are. Therefore if data is cut and paste from a web site then it is automatically a copyright violation, as we do not know who really added it. To use remote web data that is yours, you will have to go through the process at WP:DCM. FWIW - it is always easier to...
  1. Ensure the remote web page does not say "All rights reserved" AND
  2. Add the code from http://creativecommons.org/choose/results-one?license_code=by-sa&jurisdiction=&version=3.0&lang=en to the remote web page to donate it under the CC-BY-SA-3.0 license - http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/
rather then going through the e-mail to OTRS consent form.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:22, 8 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
The page was deleted in 2012 because the content seemed copy-pasted from your own "Bio" page, namely http://garystockdale.com/bio/. That page says, "©2011 Gary Stockdale", and there's no indication that it has been released under a free license as would be required for the content to be usable by Wikipedia. Technically you could release your bio page's content under a free license such as the CC BY-SA 3.0 License as Ronhjones describes, but it would probably be both easier and better to rewrite the article from scratch based on what reliable independent sources such as newspapers or reputable magazines report about you. Doing so yourself may not the best plan, however, due to your conflict of interest - it's hard to maintain a neutral point of view when writing about oneself. If you know of reliable third-party sources such as newspaper articles that cover you in some detail, you may instead want to request others to write a new article about you at the relevant sub-page of WP:Requested articles, probably Wikipedia:Requested articles/music (though I'm not quite sure which section would be the most appropriate). Please provide links to the third-party sources with such a request. Huon (talk) 21:55, 8 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Just rewrite it. "If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue." was a apart of the message you should have seen. The copyright violation was pointed out above. Don't do that this time. Also as pointed out above it has to comply with wikipedia policy. Finally as you have a conflict of interest here it might be good to ask you to read WP:COI.
