Speedy deletion of Space Is For Stars

edit

A tag has been placed on Space Is For Stars requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 18:48, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I rejected the speedy deletion, but would love to see a link to the reference you provide. I couldn't find it so quickly myself. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 18:53, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your belief that any local band that releases an album and has a following of any sort is well-intentioned, but grossly misguided. If we were to allow such, Wikipedia would be overrun with article about every small band in existence. Space is for Stars does not meet Wikipedia standards for notability of bands on many levels. It is also obvious that the article was a copy-and-paste from some other source, and likely a copyright violation. That's more than a violation of Wikipedia policy; that's breaking federal laws in oth the United States and Canada. Unless you can show some evidence that the band meets Wikipedia's long-established policies, and not simply your own beliefs and wishes, there will be no Wikipedia article about this band. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:43, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
As for all those non-notable bands: We're working on it. It's a big job, though. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:56, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
