I removed the speedy delete tag from this user page because I didn't think it was applicable. I don't think user pages can ever be a CSD, and furthermore the criteria for speedy deletion state that "Reasons derived from Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Wikipedia is not: "a dictionary", "an indiscriminate collection of information", "a crystal ball", etc." are not candidates. This issue should be discussed with the user, and if there is no resolution you could nominate it at Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion. WP:UP may prove a helpful resource. Darksun 19:49, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've listed it at MFD. Gakusha 19:50, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Really, you should have just asked the user to remove it first. From the User page guidelines: "Be very careful not to scare a newbie away from Wikipedia, and try to assume good faith that they are merely trying to share information about themselves. Try to resolve the issue on the user's talk page first." Darksun 19:53, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
It was already removed from the main article space. Gakusha 19:53, 27 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cubs

edit

Thanks for your edits to the Chicago Cubs page. I kept some of your new content, but frankly it was not well written and way too long. If you want to add more to the '03 season, please add it to 2003 Chicago Cubs season which is a better place for "long stories" because this page is basically a recap. All I did was revert the POV edits the previous editor had added. Gakusha 06:20, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mental as Anything: Comment on Live it Up

edit

I resent that you accuse me of vandalism when I am making valid comment on the nature and stucture of this song, which goes on and on and on. You try having to listen to this song three times a day.

I was not experimenting either. Nor was I being obsene or rude. You do not have to agree with me, but you don't have to be so self-righteous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.187.180.41 (talk) 04:22, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adding continued repetitive text that is your personal commentary is not permitted in wikipedia articles. Gakusha 04:24, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was demonstrating the repetitive nature of the song. It was a sample of a lyric and not simply repeating the same words over and over and over and over (is that allowed.. over and over??)and supports the contribution. But you call it vandalism. So much for free expression. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.187.180.41 (talk) 04:50, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Decling unblock requests

edit

While I appreciate your interest in helping Wikipedia, please leave responding to unblock requests up to administrators. -- John Reaves 04:35, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is there any reasoning behind that? I can see how approving unblock requests should be admin-only, but for declining requests I don't see the problem. Gakusha 04:36, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Admins may know more than you (e.g. deleted contribs or access to unblock-en-l) and declining it means there is no chance for an admin to give a user a second chance or act on sockpuppetry or other special cases that may be missed by a new user/ non-admin. -- John Reaves 04:46, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

My Talk Page

Am I not allowed to remove things from my own talk page? 76.20.248.125 04:55, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It is discouraged to remove new user warning templates from IP talk pages. Gakusha 04:59, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

edit

Probably safer to report something like this than keep reverting. I would consider the tag removal vandalism, but others might disagree with us, and you don't need to be having that debate. Thanks for stemming the flow of vandalism either way! -- But|seriously|folks  05:46, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fiserv article

edit

Why are you saying the article is not about their competition? It is an article about a company called Fiserv, that, like any other company has market competitors. What is the problem?

The problem is that you are including too much about the other companies. It reads like an entire article for it. If you wanted to include a one or two sentence bit on how they have competition, that's fine. But please don't tell the life story of their competitors. Gakusha 22:03, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh Jeez. I just pasted whatever those companies had to say about themselves. OK, I am going to make it real short then.

air heaters

edit

I would like to add to your article about air heaters. I believe that I wrote my article in my own words. What is wrong with it beyond that? Could you please inform me on what I could do to help? Mlrusch 20:31, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
