Is there text on the memorial? One book says "Totgeschlagen, totgeschwiegen. Den homosexuellen Opfern des Nationalsozialismus". They give the translation as "Beaten to death, silenced to death. To the homosexual victims of Nazism." No idea if that's correct or not, but a physical description of the memorial, and the text displayed, would be good.

I see that there's already a picture of that inscription here: History of gay men in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.

The reason the above occurred to me is because the article title is not only long, but I thought there might be something "official" that the memorial is called. A search online shows that it is often called "The Pink Triangle Memorial in Berlin", though that isn't official, either.

Inscription and picture

sorry the image and inscription "Totgeschlagen, totgeschwiegen. Den homosexuellen Opfern des Nationalsozialismus" is not from the new memorial at the boundary of Tiergarten.

the image and inscription, which you mean, is from a second older "little" place/signboard in Berlin Schöneberg at the Nollendorfplatz. That older signboard at the Nollendorfplatz is more a private initiative of homosexual people and organisations and had nothing to do with the Bundestag decission of 2003, where all german parties discussed and decided.

you are right, I also do not know which is the correct lemmatranslation: should i write:

• Memorial to homosexuals persecuted under Nazism
• Memorial to Homosexuals persecuted under Nazism
• Memorial to the Homosexuals persecuted under Nazism

Ah - I see. I had the wrong memorial :)

• Memorial for gay victims of Nazis
• Memorial to homosexual victims of the Nazis

By the way, I like the phrase used here about the lesbian/gay kiss: "A looped video inside alternates clips of two men kissing and two women kissing every two years."
