My name is Robert Hood. I'm an Australian author. In a fit of enthusiasm I went onto my own Wikipedia page (which I in no way instigated) in order to update it. Only after doing so did I stumble upon Wikipedia's COI policies. Now I'm not sure what to do about it, as I do not want to violate or offend the Wikipedia editorial community or to appear as though I'm trying to promote myself.

I was careful to make no changes to opinion or evaluation comment on my biographical page, but I added details to already existing factual content -- bio elements, publication details, awards ... that sort of thing.

If I need to do anything about this, or if anyone thinks I have added details in a way that appears overtly self-serving, please let me know.

In the opening paragraph please change "He has published five young adult novels, three collections of his short fiction...." to "He has published five young adult novels, four collections of his short fiction..." This reflects the recent publication of another collection, titled Peripheral Visions: The Collected Ghost Stories (IFWG Publishing Australia, 2015), which I would like to add in more detail to the subsequent article. [1]

In the opening paragraph, change "He has been nominated for five Aurealis Awards and eleven Ditmars." to "He has been nominated for six Aurealis Awards and twenty Ditmars." [2]

In the opening paragraph, change "In 2006 Hood won a Ditmar Award for Best Collection for Daikaiju! Giant Monster Tales (edited with Robin Pen) and another in 2009 for his film review and commentary website, Undead Backbrain." to "In 2006 Hood won a Ditmar Award for Best Collection for Daikaiju! Giant Monster Tales (edited with Robin Pen), another in 2009 for his film review and commentary website, Undead Backbrain, and in 2014 a Ditmar Award for Best Novel for Fragments of a Broken Land: Valarl Undead. He has also won Ditmar Awards and associated William Atheling Jr Awards for Criticism or Review in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010 for various non-fiction and film commentary articles both in print and online." [3]

In the last paragraph of the Biography section, change "and is Graphic Design & Editorial Officer for the Faculty of Business at the University of Wollongong." to "and was Graphic Design & Editorial Officer for the Faculty of Business at the University of Wollongong until retiring in July 2015 to write full-time."

Under the Short Fiction Collections subheading under Writing Career add: Peripheral Visions: The Collected Ghost Stories This collection brings together all Hood's 44 ghost stories, published from 1986 to 2015, three of them written especially for the book: "After Image", "Double Speak" and a 22,000-word novella, "The Whimper". Seen by the publisher as a "reference collection", the volume includes an introduction by World Fantasy Award winning editor, Danel Olson, notes by the author and a comprehensive bibliography that lists complete publication details, awards and commendations for each story. As well as the standard clothbound single-edition hardcover, the book comes in several other formats: a deluxe, limited edition hardcover; a trade paperback edition, in two volumes; and as an ebook. The hardcover editions include original artwork by Australian artist Nick Stathopoulos, who also designed the covers. [4][5]. With the publication of this book, the publisher announced that Peripheral Visions would the first in a new series of quality dark fiction works under the imprint Dark Phases. [6]

Under the Awards and Nominations subheading, in reference to the Ditmar Awards: change "three" to "four" and add the dot-point "Best Novel (2014): for Fragments of a Broken Land: Valarl Undead (Borgo/Wildside Press, 2014).

In the Bibliography listing, please change "Peripheral Visions: Collected Ghost Stories 1986-2015 (Dark Phases/IFDW Publishing Australia, 2015)" to Peripheral Visions: Collected Ghost Stories 1986-2015 (Dark Phases/IFWG Publishing Australia, 2015)" -- as the name of the publisher was incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fsherwood (talkcontribs) 03:58, 4 August 2015‎ (UTC)Reply

Hi Rob. I've implemented most of those changes. I shortened the awards in the lead ("opening paragraph"), since the list has grown too long to actual name each book. Stickee (talk) 05:49, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
