Hello, thanks for your comments on my page, and welcome to Wikipedia which, contrary to some reports, is a wonderful place! While editing on controversial pages can be very challenging and frustrating, pages like 'Fun with Radio' are far less demanding. You will find differing views on many subjects, such as what constitutes 'notability' - a requirement for an article. Some would restrict the topics severely; others like myself note that there is no lack of memory on Wikipedia (when I started the whole of Wiki took up only 3Gbyte and I guess the whole could still be stored on the average PC hard drive - surprising but it's mostly text), so why limit it at all (though I would stop at putting everyone up!).

The first motto of the founder is 'be bold', so do not hesitate to edit. In general, unless there is a dispute going on, it's fine to just go ahead and edit, rather than suggest to others. Mistakes are forgiven, and any editor who comments harshly is himself in the wrong! There is a repeating problem with sources. We are discouraged from putting up links to our own pages, and in particular O.R., original research is forbidden. This means that secondary sources are considered better than primary sources, so whilst I can quote you I must not deduce anything from the book itself! I find this frustrating, but I guess it's necessary for an 'encyclopedia'. Have no fear, on the topic of Fun with Radio and Gilbert Davey your site is the most valuable, if not the only, good source, and I would encourage you to add to the article.

You mention that Davey may still be alive. I wonder what records you have checked? Death records? Is it true that he lived in Brookman's Park, and that is why crystal sets worked well for him but not for everyone!! My personal feeling is that while he may be very old, a careful approach would not be out of order, and he would probably be delighted to know that he had gone down for posterity in Wikipedia. I think of Patrick Moore, still on TV at a great age. I get satisfaction from wondering what Wiki will be like in a hundred or more years time. Many articles will I suspect be essentially unchanged, so this is a great place to get stuff like this on the Web before it is lost, especially since Wiki pages come up top of the list on Google. Remember also that the talk pages are a valuable resource. I suspect experts in the future might 'mine' talk pages for clues!
