Edit-war at User talk:Durova

Hello, it appears you are engaged in an edit-war at User talk:Durova. If a user has requested that you stop posting to their talk page, it is generally best if you do so and respect their wishes. Please also remember to remain civil in dialogue. Thank you, Cirt (talk) 00:26, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm just wondering when will those images been process. The uplaoder hasn't been around since 2006. it's tough to be patient. he say he will get back to me. When will the commons DR be process.--57Freeways 00:30, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

  • Can you answer quickly? When will those iamges be process? people just make excuse of "They have lives outside of internet". If he just anwer this question, this would been over.--57Freeways 00:31, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
    • If you are referring to the length of time the process can take at Commons:Deletion requests, please note what it says on that page: Once an administrator has sufficient information to come to a decision, the deletion request will be closed and the file either deleted or flagged as kept. In clear cases this might happen within a few hours, but more complicated cases can remain open for weeks or even months.. Cirt (talk) 00:38, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Do you have anycomments on delete or keep? You can comment it. It is duplicate to Image:i-195 (MA).svg and others.--57Freeways 00:43, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

You already posted this request to my talk page at Wikimedia Commons. Cirt (talk) 00:44, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
I recommend you wait and allow the Commons:Deletion requests to run its course. Cirt (talk) 00:45, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Being patient may be tough, but this is the way the process works at Commons. If you would like to propose changing the process, I suggest you discuss that at commons:Commons talk:Deletion requests. Cirt (talk) 00:56, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
  • Right now I have lots to do on Commons. The BUS Intrstates use small text C on green backgrounds, some I ask uploaders to fix in wrong way causing white text to look bigger--SCFReeways 23:44, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

I-5

That's a bad way of breaking up the exit list - also, you keep messing up the table for the Lebec exit. --Rschen7754 (T C) 04:40, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

WP:Profanity

Agreed that inappropriate language is a bad thing, but that subject is handled by WP:Civility and (depending on what language you mean) WP:Words to avoid; all I see at WP:Profanity is profanity. After adding the shortcut, were you getting ready to try out some new content on language in general? - Dan Dank55 (send/receive) 11:36, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Mars

Mars' surface temperatures are discussed in its article, which notes a summer high of (IIRC) 70F. — Lomn 18:05, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

The high avg. around the tropic zones is 47F (08C), the average midlat must be -63F (-53C) colder than most US and Alaska, at winter, the polar temp is like -170F around -120C, about twice as cold as Greenland, and white ice on Earth. Mars is very cold in general speaking, and most part on Mars is far colder than anyplace on Earth.--SCFReeways 22:23, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

I-710 Long Beach Frwy extension

Will the I-710 in Los Angeles ever been extend? What does Pasadena have a big fight over extending the I-710? Is this because of houses or what makes it so arguemental to extend?Besdies neighborhood or what? is the I-710 extension further away from being successful than the SR 241 in Orange County?--57Freeways 00:31, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

So what's wrong with just putting the I-710 in. Elimination of many homes won't kill people. Do they have other excuse than just losing homes. pasadena just have strong opposition over the I-710 extension.--57Freeways 00:41, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

The obvious difficulty is that 'just losing homes' isn't really a small thing. If tomorrow you were told that you have 6 months to get out of your house because the land was being reclaimed for public-highways it might not be a big deal to you. If you've lived in the home for 20 years, or you feel a big sense of community around the local area then being made to leave the area to make way for a road-extension could be a big deal. Ultimately the government doesn't want to upset too many residents, doesn't want to get too much bad press, but will want to improve the road-networks. The counter-argument could just as easily be 'it's just a highway extension, other roads exist to get people where they need to go. Why do they need this road, not having it won't kill anyone'. There is no wrong and right, there is a need to compromise between both groups so that each can achieve something that is manageable and forward-thinking. ny156uk (talk) 10:50, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

That extension would make my life much, much easier, but its not likely to happen. First of all the government would have to invoke eminent domain and evict alot of people from their property. This would mean kicking alot of very rich people with a whole lot of lawyers out of their homes. That means even getting the project started would cost millions in legal fees and a whole lot of bad publicity even before they pay for the property. Just because its not killing anyone isn't enough reason to do it, you're taking innocent people's property by force, you have to prove its justified. This means alot of expensive civil engineering studies to prove the benefits. It's a very long uphill battle before it gets done. -- Mad031683 (talk) 21:13, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Blue giant and Blue supergiant

Freewayguy, I encountered your editor review where you noted your work with blue giant and blue supergiant as contributions you were proud of. On checking those articles, I found that 10 of the 12 sources you added did not actually source the information in the articles, and one of the two remaining was tenuous at best. Referencing an article is not merely adding a link in <ref> tags; that source needs to address the content you claim to reference. Coupled with your removal of the {{unreferenced}} tags from the articles, you've made it look as if we've done our homework when in fact we haven't. Such editing is, unfortunately, disruptive towards our goal of improving a verifiable encyclopedia, and I trust you'll be more careful of such edits in the future. Let me know if you've got any concerns. — Lomn 03:56, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Lomn, this is not about blue giant or blue supergiant, but I do get possibly confuse with some specific vocabs like "Possible" and "Greenhouse effect". i thought possible always mean likely, and Greenhouse effect always mean adding atmospheric pressure--Freeway91 18:46, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

I get a valid page when I visit that link. Perhaps your browser is misconfigured; either way, the link is not "rotten" (nor is such status grounds for removal, particularly when a book is cited with the link for online reference purposes). — Lomn 03:06, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

I think is because my computer is on a slwoer mode. i'm been asking does "Greenhouse" neccessairly mean add atmosp, or this just deepnds. I don't think adding heat helps Mars build back lost atmosp.--Freeway91 03:31, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

how you explain this? This said Titan will have greenhouse in 7 Gyrs too. The source is from pdf, titan's atmos is made of light orange smog, when the sun heats up Titan's atmosp will instantly wear away. Europa is airless right now, it is too small to hold an atmosp, when sun heats up in billions of years Europa's white-tan ice will just boil into a desert, just like Moon.--Freeway91 04:39, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

AfD

Could you reply to my AfD comments? Ironholds (talk) 23:53, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

As reluctant as I am to say such a thing to a user; I'd advise that you stay away from AfD until you get a better grasp of policy. I've seen four AfD's you've looked at, and in three of them you've commented "delete" based on things that don't make an article deletable or misunderstood multiple policies. Ironholds (talk) 00:01, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Ironholds, please stay away from AfD or at least read and understand the deletion policy. I found the comment "Why not notable?" left in this AfD. Regards, TwentiethApril1986 (want to talk?) 00:36, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Also, some of your comments don't exactly make sense - e.g. your comment here. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 01:58, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

IfD comments

It is great to have people contributing to the various image deletion discussions. I see you have commented on number of nominations that the image should be transfered to Commons. I agree that the good images should be transfered, but there are a lot of images that really dont need to be there. Also, I have been tagging a lot of images that are currently tagged with a {{GFDL-presumed}} license. It would be great to have these images usable, but given the user is absent and there is no expressed licensing that the image is under GFDL they really can't and shouldn't be transfered to Commons; they might not be free. Also, commons does not house every snapshot that has been taken; the images should have a potential use and have enough information supplied by the uploader so someone can sort and categorize the image. If you want to further discuss this, I would prefer you come to my talk page to drop me a note as I will not be watching this user page. Thanks. --Jordan 1972 (talk) 02:13, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi - as a further to this I've been closing most of these as delete. As per Jordan above GFDL-presumed images just don't go to commons. Unfortunately as the uploaders are no longer active here we cannot find out if they really intended for the images to be GFDL either - Peripitus (Talk) 04:36, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
