File:Home counties.gif missing description details
editMap image
editThanks for adding the very handsome map image to Home Counties. Unfortunately the area it indicated did not correspond to any of the definitions on the page, so I had to remove it. Most strikingly, it excluded Kent which is every defintion of the Home Counties, and included Oxfordshire which isn't in any. Also, Sussex is almost always included, but again excluded from your map. The whole thing seems to be too far north and west!
I notice you edit articles around about Oxfordshire, so you may feel it rates inclusion as "Home County", but we don't have anything supporting this in the article.
As per the discussion on the article's talk page, there is one definition that includes Oxon, that of the Valuation Office Agency, and it would probably make for a nice map:
- Inner Home Counties: Kent, Surrey, Bucks, Herts and Essex within M25 boundary.
- Outer Home Counties: Kent, Surrey, Sussex (East and West), Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, the Bournemouth section of Dorset and the City of Cambridge. [1]
I suggest you rework the map to show these two boundaries, as it is information that is kind of waiting to be added.
Incidentally I do not know what the white boundary lines breaking up the rest of England refer to: they almost but not quite respond to the current government office regions (Lincolnshire for instance is lumped in with Yorkshire and the Humber). You might add that to the map legend, if you do rework it. Thanks. Lozleader (talk) 23:21, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
