Augusta of Cambridge

Augusta was born in 1822- whereas this image dates from 1820 according to the page, so she cannot be patron two years before her birth! Perhaps it is Princess Augusta Sophia of the United Kingdom, daughter of King George III, that the flyer refers to? Astrotrain 14:14, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I've added the information to Princess Augusta Sophia of the United Kingdom, as it seems to be her- as well as the birthday issue, the flyer says "The Princess Augusta" which is only used by daughters of the King (Augusta of Cambridge was a granddaughter and would be listed as Princess Augusta of Cambridge); and the fact that she spent most of her life in Germany, indicates it is more likely to be her aunt to whom the flyer is refered. Talk pages

Hi, I noted you removed my comments from your talk page and replaced with a summary. While I appreciate you did not misrepresent me in the summary, talk pages are supposed to contain actual comments by other editors, and should not be removed unless considered vandalism, thus I have restored them and removed your summary to the respective talk pages of the articles. Generally it is discouraged to remove other editors comments from any talk page- as it can be seen to be vandalism (although I do appreciate it is not in this case and that you are a new user). Talk vs. Spam

Unfortunately talk pages will inevitably get a bit messy but I agree that this is the policy of the site. Idea to do a summary was a side effect of loosing my own comments in an edit clash.(Flea Circus Director 09:04, 11 September 2006 (UTC))

Cleanup of Flea Circus article

Hello. A while back, you had asked what issues I had with the Flea circus article that caused me to mark it for cleanup. It looks like some cleanup has already been done, however things I think would be helpful are:

• Some explanation should be given as to the strength of fleas (how much can they carry/pull?).
• Some explanation should be given as to the attraction of flea circuses. What was it that drew people to watch them?
• In the sixth paragraph, how does repelling fleas create the illusion of juggling, etc.?
• In the seventh paragraph, it is unclear how glued fleas could be made to appear to move.
• Generally, the training section should probably be expanded. For example, how is wire attached and secured to a flea?

Maxfield Rubbish and his Time Traveling Flea Circus

Hi, thanks for your note on my talk page. You have an interesting hobby! I see that the battle with the Maxfield Rubbish guy turned into a full scale edit war and ended in semi-protection. I'm sorry to see that, because I had some communication with the person and they may have had something real to contribute; unfortunately they chose the route of edit war instead of discussion in the thread.

I "watch" the Balboa Park, San Diego, California page which is where I got involved with this issue. The Maxfield Rubbish Flea Circus story was posted there too. When I looked for confirmation all I found was a show at the park's puppet theater, so I deleted the story and changed it into an item about a fictional flea circus (which I see is still there on the Flea Circus page). If you look at my talk page and theirs User talk:76.191.236.182, you will see my conversation with this person. They claim to work for the Balboa Park Historical Society. They said they have some evidence that there actually was a Maxfield Rubbish Time Traveling Flea Circus as a kind of joke exhibit at the California Pacific International Exposition (1935) in Balboa Park, and that the puppet show was based on that person and was financially supported by a descendent. They urged me to come to the park so they could show me their evidence, but then they stopped replying and I have had no further contact with them. --MelanieN (talk) 15:04, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

IC Wikisoc!

Dear FleaCircusDirector - My name is Vinesh Patel, a 5th Year medic at Imperial. I'm trying to start an Imperial College Wikipedia society, presenting to the union by the end of the month. Would you be interested?

My team and I want to get people working in groups for edits. Non-academic and academic edits would be great to work on in groups – an IC Wikipedia soc would be cool! This has already been achieved in the States but we would be the first student society in the UK. http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_student_clubs. We are also pursuing lots of other things – research into Wikipedia use, GLAM wiki stuff with local museums, using Wikipedia in teaching.

Whether you are a current student or alumnus, I think it would be great to get a community linked together from Imperial, which can give so much to the world’s free information because of the knowledge base here – and have fun doing it!
