Request reason:

I use a VPN I host via OVH due to the recent draconian internet surveillance laws introduced in the United Kingdom. I don't edit much but I've been well-behaved user for years so hopefully that's enough to be exempted. I'm not sure whether it makes most sense to unblock my account just for the IP address I use at the moment or for a larger block in case I ever have to change IP at OVH, but I'll leave that up to the admins. Decline reason:

Hi Fish-Face. As a fellow Brit, I can fully understand the decision to use VPN after last year's change in the law. However, because this kind of anonymous editing can easily be abused, there's a specific process you need to follow to appeal it. Please could you email the functionaries list at functionaries-en@lists.wikimedia.org and request an IP block exemption, explaining why you need to use this VPN. It's also worth mentioning that this type of IP block exemption is only granted to users who have "a genuine and exceptional need, and [who] can be trusted", so you'll need to make a good case. Your request will be discussed by the functionaries team, and someone will get back to you as soon as a decision is made. Best wishes, Yunshui  08:31, 12 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
