Please don’t bite me, I’m a newbie!

I’m a university student in a Wikipedia Education class, and I’m currently learning how to contribute to Wikipedia.
I am approaching my subject in good faith.

If you have any concerns or questions, my tutor’s name is Carrolquadrio (talk · contribs). Thanks!

Simplifying the edit history edit

Hi! I noticed that you are a new editor. Here are a few tips:

When making many successive edits to an article, if you save each immediately the edit history gets quite crowded. Another option is usually to use the Preview button instead of the Save button to see what your edits so far look like, and then keep editing, saving the updated version when you get to a stable point. This is not required but it is good practice.

Also: I'm not sure if you have noticed that you can edit particular sections, instead of the whole article at a time. This is useful for a number of reasons:

  1. it shows others which part section has been changed
  2. if you change one section while someone is changing another section, one of you will be prevented from saving your work if you both edit the whole article. If you both edit a particular (different) section, you can each save your changes independently.

You should see an "edit" option next to the section headings.

Thanks for becoming an editor, and hoping you will continue after your course is finished! Clean Copytalk 03:45, 16 December 2020 (UTC) ———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————Reply

Thank you for the heads up. Pardon my carelessness. I will be sure to make any future edits in accordance with the rules of good practise which you've suggested. Let me know if you would like me to make any changes to the article. Regards, ferniebritishcolumbia.
