Speedy deletion nomination of Flavio Deslandes

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Flavio Deslandes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Evaders99 (talk) 09:22, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from writing autobiographical articles, as you did at Flavio Deslandes. Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged; if you create such an article, it may be deleted. All edits to articles must conform to our policies on no original research, neutral point of view, and avoid conflicts of interest. Please remember that Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia, not a personal webspace provider. If your achievements are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. Gurt Posh (talk) 09:33, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Have a look at what I've done with the article. Meanwhile I'll add a comment here in order to get you going with further editing. MarB4 •ɯɒɹ• 11:03, 17 June 2011 (UTC) Hi Fcld. Hopefully I will not be blamed of not assuming good faith when saying, that your contributions easily could make one believe that you have a special interest in Bamboo bicycles in general and in Flavio Deslandes in particular. Please have a very good read on the help pages, not at least WP:NPOV. I tried to polish up Flavio Deslandes just a little bit and I think I broke one ref you had added, but you can get it back from the history page. I can see two sources on Google Books that you have not yet included. Happy editing, and leave me a note, if you have questions or want friendly advise. MarB4 •ɯɒɹ• 11:13, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

thanks a lot MarB4! it looks much better now! yes, it is very important your help and advise, since Im new to wikipedia :-) (dont even know if Im aloud to reply you here..). im trying to focus on historical facts and have verified references. I have some questions: 1) the youtube video "Bambucicletas.[3][self-published source?]" was a tv interview from oglobo from 2001, and it was published on youtube after we got a copy from oglobo for it, however it is not available from oglobo as link or any other website but from youtube or flaviodeslandes website. what do we do in order to use it as reference here? 2)"world first bamboo bike with a tensigrity" we did some search on patent search engines and did not found such bicycle done before, but we still cant prove it because there are no references. we have the original paper report from 1998 deslandes graduating project to PUC-Rio only. shall we write instead "probably world first bamboo bike with a tensigrity" or shall we erase that? 3)"being audacious in its construction and design,[according to whom?]" yes, we should write it more neutral. We meant like, the easiest way one would start introducing such new material in bicycle design would be with a traditional diamond frame design.. but he went further, almost "provocative", and besides using new material he also introduced a new (criss-cross) frame design. he just didnt revive the bamboo, but he did it in a different way. we believe thats why bamboobikes became so popular after this article from 2001. but I understand we have to write it more npov. 4) some references, such as old pages from websites or old printed articles, which are not available online to link to but are available from flaviodeslandes website, how can we use it as a reference? thanks a lot fcld

I found a better link for the patent: http://worldwide.espacenet.com/publicationDetails/biblio?FT=D&date=20010306&DB=EPODOC&locale=en_EP&CC=BR&NR=7901320U&KC=U
