September 2021 edit

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Request reason:

I am utterly shocked to see my acct blocked when i signed in today. I have a feeling the block was made after i have edited the Gurbaksh Chahal page which was full of issues at one point: typos, grammar, primary & pr links, blogs, dead links. I spent hours cleaning it up and also made substantial improvements and contributions in good faith, in an effort to bring it up to Wikipedia standards. If you think these edits were promotional or If I made mistakes anywhere I am open to hearing any suggestions and corrections. I have always listened and worked with others rather than getting into edit warring, urged other editors to seek community consensus as and when needed or when disagreement ocurred. I would appreciate it if everyone accept my good faith here and allow me to continue to contribute to Wikipedia.Faizal batliwala (talk) 13:49, 29 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You are blocked for being an undisclosed paid editor, but do not address this in your request. 331dot (talk) 09:15, 30 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@331dot: thanks for looking into my request and apologies about the delayed response to you. yes i have a coi but i have been very carefully editing the article in question and have done my level best to stay neutral. i have done a lot of clean up so it measures up to Wiki standards. I do apologize if i committed any mistakes. I assure you i will follow the policies and guidelines designed for coi articles. thanksFaizal batliwala (talk) 12:25, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
You may make another request for someone else to review. If you have a COI you should not make direct edits to articles but may instead make formal edit requests. Please also review WP:PAID. 331dot (talk) 12:31, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sure, i will make another request. Thanks for all your help.Faizal batliwala (talk) 12:25, 11 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

i am apologetic for my failure to follow coi policies of Wikipedia. i admit to having a coi with the topic Gurbaksh Chahal but i am not compensated for my edits. I assure you that from now onwards i won't edit topics in which i have a coi or will use talkpage to make edit requests instead of editing directly. Thanks in advance for considering my request.Faizal batliwala (talk) 12:51, 11 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This is not sufficient. You need to commit to declaring your conflict of interest and you need to be specific about the nature of your conflict. You claim you are not a paid editor, but it is not possible for us to be sure of this until you specify the exact nature of your conflict. For example, if you are employed by any of the companies founded by Chahal, you are a paid editor. You also haven't told us what else you plan to edit. We won't unblock you solely to suggest edits for areas for which you have a conflict. Yamla (talk) 13:02, 11 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
