Advice please: Editing conflict with your class edit

This is Nancy Darling. I am also involved in a Wikipedia Education project as an expert in Psychology and Medicine. There were three articles I was going to work on (we need to work on at least two): Urie Bronfenbrenner, Ecological Systems Theory, and Parenting Styles). I decided not to begin with the Parenting Styles page because it is really out of control and required a lot of work and because it's a complicated topic. I figured I'd start with the Bronfenbrenner/Ecological Systems Theory pages. Neither had been touched in a decade and both were in rough shape.

When I was checking the talk page on the Urie Bronfenbrenner page, I saw that one of your students was going to be editing it. On the one hand, I've done a lot of work in this area and written several reviews and overviews of his work and its influence on the field. I've pulled all my sources. In fact, if they're accessible to your student, they might pull my chapter on him to get better biographical information than is currently in the page. On the other hand, I don't want to interfere with your student's assignment.

Long term, what I had thought to do was to focus the Bronfenbrenner biography on his life and influence and touch on ecological systems theory, then refer to that page.

Can you tell me more about what your class's assignment is and how you think I should proceed? How big a change are they going to be making? Would it be better for them if I waited for them to finish (in May?) and then edit or to make changes now and let them edit me? Nancydarling (talk) 14:08, 31 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nancy,
This is my first time being involved in a wiki project for my class so it is a bit of an experiment. I'm assuming they are going to make small changes. It's really up to you if you want to make your changes before or after them. They will be finished by the beginning of May. 2605:EF80:8033:9EC8:0:0:1262:2DFE (talk) 18:24, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
