Copyright, conflict of interest, username edit

Hi. I'm an administrator on Wikipedia who often works copyright problems. A contributor pointed out to me that the language you added to Expeditors International was taken from your company page: [1]. I'm afraid we've had to remove that language for now, because the website reserves full rights; to use this content, we need a licensing statement from you, if you are an authorized officer of Expeditor. Because we do not have any means of verifying the identity of account holders at account creation, we would either need you to publish this statement on your website or to email it to the Wikimedia Foundation from an email address visibly connected to your company. If you choose to do email, the form to use is at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries (the address to send it to is there also). After you send that email, you should be contacted within about a week and notified either that the licensing statement is on file or that there are issues with it that need clarification. Alternatively, you can put this notice on your site's legal disclaimer page or on that specific page where the content is published there:

The text of this website [or page, if you are specifically releasing one section] is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License and the GNU Free Documentation License (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts).

If you let us know you've done that (you can reach me at my talk page by following the word "talk" after my username), we can put the content back. We do not guarantee that the material will remain; as you are surely aware, Wikipedia is open for editing by anyone, and any contributor may alter the material consistent with policies and guidelines.

A second factor I'd ask you to consider if you intend to edit the article any further is the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guideline. Certainly, we welcome you to update and correct errors, but you should be very careful that content you add complies with that guideline to avoid a perception of bias. See also Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations. Content on Wikipedia is meant to neutrally summarize what reliable sources that are not associated with article subjects have to say about them. We do not, for instance, generally include content like this: "At Expeditors, industry professionals, award winning processes and globally unified systems ensure that they always live up to their promise, 'You'd be surprised how far we'll go for you'." While it's completely understandable that a company would say that of itself in its own promotional material, we have a different aim with our articles. :)

As a final note, your username is a bit of a problem under our username policy and could lead to your account being blocked without further warning. Please see the relevant section of that policy. Usernames are meant to represent individuals, not groups, and they are not meant to promote a company or suggest any particular authority over articles related to that company. I would really recommend that you consider changing your username if you plan to edit anymore; this can be done fairly easily at Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple.

Thanks, and if you have any questions, please let me know at my talk page. Alternatively, you can ask them here, simply by placing {{helpme}} (curly brackets and all) right above your question. A volunteer will visit your page and try to help. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:32, 2 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
