Abubakr article

edit

Hello, please read WP:RS and WP:OR. Your edit on Abu Bakr's page is against wikipedia policies. Thank you.--Aliwiki (talk) 08:02, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the notice, I think we should discuss it before you edit the article. What is against wp policies? The sources cited in the intro are reliable and published. They reflect sunni ideas which should be mentioned in the introduction along with shia views, which leaves the article unbiased. The introduction as it is now reflects only shia views of abu bakr (almost) since according to sunna, abu bakr was assigned civil duties by the prophet muhammad and the ridda wars are not viewed as a muslim massacre . If you want to include shia statements in the introduction, make sure to state that these are according to shia by putting in the shia views paragraph. If you want to put it in the beginning of the introduction, then it should be a fact that is agreed upon by sunna and shia. I will revert your edit, and lets discuss before you change it. Thanks (Ewpfpod (talk) 09:25, 18 October 2010 (UTC))Reply

According to Wikipedia policies, you can not use primary sources like Sahih Bukhari (at least in the introduction of this important article), and you must you references which are recognized by important international organizations, as an example see here and here. Pay attention that Abu Bakr was an important historical figure, so it is not nice to write few sentences about his life which is followed by 2 paragraphs Muslim view on him. His biography must be the main part of the introduction. One more point is that, fortunately the main Islamic books such as Sahih Bukhari, Muslim, Nahj al-Balagha and ... are available online in English, so if you want to quote something from them, it would be better to provide the online link. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Aliwiki (talk) 19:44, 18 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

So do you think it is nice to use a shia reference in the intro to state facts that are not agreed upon in the name of all muslims? Your reference "syed ali asgher razwi" is clearly a shia reference regardless wether primary, secondary, or tertiary. Sunna believe that abu bakr was assigned civil duties during muhammad's life (leading prayers and hajj) which is not mentioned in the intro. In fact, your reference (al-islam.org) claims the opposite. Moreover, using primary sources is allowed when attributing their statement to people who accept these sources, e.g. "sunni's believe... (ref:sahih al-bukhari) without making any interpretation (see WP:PRIMARY). On the contrary, what you did is representing the shia view in the body of the intro, and removing sunni views that conflict with them, thus biasing the article.(Ewpfpod (talk) 06:53, 19 October 2010 (UTC))Reply

Well, that Abubakr was not asigned to any authority by prophet is a historical fact and it is not related to shia or Sunni, but if you prove any authority that prophet gave to Abubakr, I will immidiately remove that sentence. A 5 min praying is not called authority, I give you an example of what is authority: Whem prophet left Medina for the battle of Tabuk, he chose Ali as governer of Medina. Do you have such an example about Abubakr? about primary sources, I said at least do not use it in the introduction, as Abubakr is an important and universally wel-known historical figure. The paragraph of Muslims view on him must be shorter than his biography, so if you want to add something, do it, but I suggest in short form (later you can go in detail in the article main body).--Aliwiki (talk) 10:06, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

A 5 min praying is not called authority?? leading hajj is not authority?? I guess we need to define authority here. I am not going into this discussion. But since "Abubakr is an important and universally wel-known historical figure", i guess it does not make sense to bias the introduction in this way.(Ewpfpod (talk) 10:52, 19 October 2010 (UTC))Reply

See here, praying, pilgrimage, Zakat and ... are called ISLAMIC PRACTICES. I gave you a clear example of authority. Your edit here is an example of WP:vandalism; If me or other users report you to admins, you may encounter with WP:banning policy.--Aliwiki (talk) 11:07, 19 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
