Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

I wasn't vandalizing the Scott Steiner page. I edited it because it came from Scott Steiner's mouth himself in a radio interview. Ochoastl (talk) 20:53, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:GTA4-Spcl-Ed-Promo-Sndtrack.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:GTA4-Spcl-Ed-Promo-Sndtrack.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Re: Adam Copeland

That's a good point. On the other hand, I think two uses of a move within two/three weeks are not enough for it to be called signature. I think if he's uses it again soon, then add it. This time, however, use and edit summary and in it state that he's not using the edgecator, but just a regular sharpshooter. That'll help clear it up. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 12:29, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

The 7th DC Meetup

Please be advised that a proposed Meetup/DC 7 is being discussed here. We need your help to figure out some of the details! You are being sent this notice because you previously expressed interest in such meetups. If you no longer wish to receive such notices, then please leave your user name here.

[[File:
Example.jpg[1]]]== To the writers of Supernatural ==

I personly LOVE the show Supernatural!! It makes me very upset knowing that tonight is the season4 finale. I'm begging the writers to make sure they write a 5th season(pretty pretty PLEASE, with a cherry on top.) I have a question for the writers, do you know that AZAZEL is a real demon? Do you (writers) think that there are actual hunters whom hunt demons and vengeful spirits? I think that Jensen and Jared go together like bacon and eggs, they act so well together and oh yes thank them for mocking us Canadiens, I found it to very comical. If the writers do make a 5th season, please do NOT kill Sam or Dean.

Regarding The Sims 3

Hello. First of all, I only reverted my edit once. That is one time as in 1, not 3 that is allowed by 3RR. If you toke time and looked at the other edits I made, you would see that they're totally legit and in good faith. And by the way, place the relevant references to the paragraph at the paragraph, not one page up. That will make life much easier, because the fact is neither of the sources (one a mirror of the other btw) at that paragraph says anything about a Digital Download version. It should not be necessary to check every reference to find the one that's relevant. And The Scene is still not a distribution medium, so I cannot understand why you reverted that. Unless you have some good explanation I will keep trying to improve Wikipedia by removing or correcting factual inaccuracies. Oh and btw, if you use the same reference in several places you could just name them, like this:
First paragraph<ref name="Source1">Source info</ref> ... Second paragraph<ref name="Source1" /> ... etc
--MrStalker (talk) 21:56, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Because a release is NEVER intended to leave The Scene per Scene rules. It is leaked from The Scene, and then distributed via P2P networks such as various BitTorrent-trackers. --MrStalker (talk) 00:29, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

The Sims 3

No, no. You misunderstand. I mean, where would some of the info not mentioned in the article go? For instance, you can toggle game features on and off now (ie. turn off aging and death). Where in the article would that go? JAF1970 (talk) 01:34, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

NFS: Shift

Hi there. I removed the car list per my edit summary - WP:GAMECRUFT. Generally, it's not a good idea to have lists of stuff in articles. A list of all the cars featured in a game is not useful to the average reader. Thanks! Fin© 14:51, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

No problem. As regards the Sims 3 bit - that a version was leaked could be argued to be worthy of inclusion. That a subsequent version was also released is not - Wikipedia shouldn't index ever proper the scene releases. Thanks! Fin© 14:57, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
As regards the score list, again it's useless to the average reader - it's essentially a list of words with no tangible connection to anything. Soundtracks are generally ok to include if they've been released separately to the game, but a list of songs/score that appears in a game tends to fall under WP:GAMECRUFT too. Thanks! How can I get my computer to display your name properly?

Right now it shows up as little squares with the number 24 on the top half and something else on the bottom... 70.71.22.45 (talk) 00:35, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Cyber Sunday

I said IF it's fake. Also, yes it is way too early to create a page. Other than WrestleMania, we don't start PPV pages for WWE until about 2 months before the event. There is ZERO information about this event other than the name. For now it should remain a redirect. Plus, the article on the PPV will not be named "Annihilation (2009)" since there is no other WWE event with the name. When the article is created (probably sometime in August), it will be "WWE Annihilation". TJ Spyke 16:32, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Please don't add {{stub}} when it's just a section which needs expanding - it makes the article appear in the stubs category. Use {{expand|section}}. Thanks.

If you disagree with me, disagree with me; However, don't call me illiterate for disagreeing with you. First, it's uncalled for; Second, it's inaccurate; Third, it's an insult. Instead of assuming my edit is due to my inability to read your sagacious advice, perhaps you could instead assume good faith in what I'm doing.

NPR, the Tennessean, and Nashville Public Radio all are using the murder-suicide terminology, and the Nashville PD have confirmed that they aren't seeking any suspects. It's starting to look like you're trying to own the article and keep out undesirable but well-sourced statements. If you wanted to improve the statement, or qualify it as something that these media outlets are saying, rather than a fact in itself, so be it. Reverting the edit in its entirety is a hostile act, especially in light of your scathing commentary. Please don't continue this way. We're meant to be collaborating toward consensus. --SSBohio 16:16, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Per your edit to my talk page, I'm continuing the discussion there. --SSBohio 16:33, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of South Park title sequence

The article South Park title sequence has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable - no third party sourcing

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- The Red Pen of Doom 15:50, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

PROD is 7 days, AfD is 7 days. I dont really get your claim that AfD provides adequate time to do something that cant be accomplished in the time alloted to PROD. But thank you for moving the process forward anyway. -- The Red Pen of Doom 16:35, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Falling Down (Space Cowboy song)

Uhh why did you delete the page I made? 89.240.253.114 (talk) 21:54, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

I did not intentionally delete it. I merely reverted some edits due to what was stated in the edit summary. I thought they were good faith edits by an IP user so I marked them as such. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ talk 23:33, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Striking out "intentionally" as looking at the edit summary, I did not delete it. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ talk 23:35, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Jesse Ramirez

I have removed your proposed deletion of this article because I do not agree with your reasoning. You wrote "As a common name, this should not serve as a dedicated redirect for a television show". While it is true that this may be a common name, Wikipedia does not currently have an article covering any other people named "Jesse Ramirez" - so anyone doing this search would most likely be trying to find information about the Roswell (TV series) character. If anyone else by this name becomes notable, a disambiguation page may be created. If you still believe the article should be deleted, you may take it to WP:AFD to gain consensus from the community. Thanks. Jujutacular talkcontribs 06:26, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Your comments on Talk:Constantine (film)

Just a note to say that I've found your talk page comments highly disruptive on Talk:Constantine (film). The talk page is used to discuss ways to improve the article and to point out and correct mistakes or highlight issues. Replying to each comment with links to policy and guidelines doesn't help elucidate the discussion, nor were your comments even accurate. The sad irony, of course, is that your actual edits to the article violate our policies and guidelines, especially in relation to WP:NOR and MOS:FILMS. In the future, either take the time to respond or don't reply at all, and most importantly, take your own advice to heart. Viriditas (talk) 03:50, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Response posted on your talk page. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ talk 16:32, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Per the header at the top of my talk page, response posted here. I do not duplicate discussion. Now, in reply to your duplicated discussion, you responded to many comments on the article talk page with nothing more than a dismissive link to alphabet soup policy and guideline links that you yourself do not seem to understand. I say this based on your own edits to the Constantine article. If you are going to claim you understand these ideas, the least you can do is pretend to understand them. Your edits to the article did not follow the rules on sourcing, original research, nor recommended guidelines for film articles, particularly in terms of plot length. There is nothing more hypocritical and rude than someone who feels the need to respond to comments on talk without having the necessary knowledge to support their arguments.
