Welcome and good editing!

Hi Ersity8! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your great additions to List of K-pop on the Billboard charts, Hot Tours! I started the page in December 2014 and did not add Hot Tours until later. The archives I started using, WebCite, then stopped working for me. Another editor GD.BB, who edits the page regularly with me, started adding current tours with WayBackMachine. A lot of older important tours were missed, so thank you for adding TVXQ, g.o.d. and B1A4's. I know there are many that were missed earlier on and regret this.

I looked at your request on the BTS Talk page and saw that you have a lot of good information to add. I am not an administrator and don't really know how quickly this "Semi-protected edit request" process moves. However, I am a confirmed user, and can make immediate edits to the page. I could offer to make some of the edtis you have suggested for BTS, but let's see how the monitoring administrators answer you first.

In the meantime, why don't you confirm your own account, so that you can continue making your own edits, including those on the BTS page? Here is the criteria for editing on that semi-protected page Wikipedia:User access levels#Autoconfirmed and confirmed users.

First, make your User page active, Go here: [1] or click open your Red name User:Ersity8. If you add some information to your page and "Save page", it will turn your name Blue. Then continue to make more minor edits on other pages, as you did on List of K-pop on the Billboard charts. The criteria above says that it needs to be 4 days old and you must make over 10 edits.

I am not exactly sure that you must make your User page active, some editors work with theirs "Red", but it won't hurt. Definitely you have made a good start with a User name and could probably get by with just making the 10 edits. However, I believe that other Users are more accommodating and friendly to Users with the "Blue" or documented User pages.

Hi again Ersity8! I've generally looked over some of your contributions on BTS, if you don't mind. I see you changed one Soompi citation to KpopStarz. Here is a list of acceptable sources that WikiProject Korea has recommended Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/Reliable sources - I did not participate in any of the selections or discussion, but use it often. Although KpopStarz was not listed, I use it sparingly; although it has great writers like Adrienne Stanley and she does interviews including this one with BTS [2]. KpopStarz had an exclusive with Billboard on the K-pop chart ending, too, which I used. And Soompi itself usually lists sources from Korean newspapers. However, I think both these sites are considered to be blogs. KpopStarz probably overcomes Wikipedia:Blogs as sources with original interviews, however, most WP editors could argue using it. I standardly look to see if a source has its own WP page (and link to that page in the citation), but even Soompi and Allkpop have a WP page. On my own Talk page, I was just advised not to use IMDb as user-generated; so I try to read through the WP page to ascertain this. Long-time (general) editors and administrators know how to weed through all of this, but for those of us who edit K-pop and Korean articles, we're really stuck sometimes with finding good credible sources without adding a Korean language one.

I am so happy you have joined WP and are working on K-pop; we recently lost some very active editors and I'm excited you are on-board! HiBonnielou2013. It is tough to find reliable English sources, and I am actually quite fond of Soompi. I was surprised that they are listed as unreliable. I don't follow KpopStarz, but I guess they are the default source if there isn't an article available on Yonhap or Mwave.Ersity8 (talk) 18:33, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
