License tagging for Image:North Carolina State Government.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:North Carolina State Government.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:06, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi Eromrab. All you need to do to tag an image with the proper licensing information is to choose the right template from Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and replace the {{no license|month=May|day=5|year=2006}} text in the licensing section at Image:North Carolina State Government.JPG. I looked at the source website, and I couldn't determine what the copyright status of that image would be. Monetarily free documents are not the same as copyright free documents, so we might not be able to use your image. I'd suggest contacting them and asking for permission. Be sure to use a form letter (or variation thereof) from Wikipedia:Boilerplate request for permission--it's not enough just to ask for permission to use an image on Wikipedia. It must be freely licensed. ~MDD4696 03:39, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and compliments on your contributions. I, much like yourself, was lured by Wikipedia's mass of information about all sorts of topics, and it became...well, something of a lifestyle. I noticed an article you created, Administrative divisions of North Carolina. That's something that definitely warrants a Wikipedia article, and I created a category specifically for articles like it. However I nominated the article for deletion because, as it currently stands, it is a template that does not provide any actual information. (Also, it nearly caused my computer to freeze, although I'm not sure if that's a problem on my end or with the article.) If you can provide substantive information about North Carolina's subdivisions, then please do so - as I said, it is useful info that definitely belongs here. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions whatsoever. Thanks and keep contributing! Paul 04:12, 13 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
