Example farm/listcruft

edit

This "article" is an indiscriminate, trivial list.

Generally, "List of..." articles exist when we have an article with a list of sourced, notable examples that grows to be too long for the main article. Examples would be List of districts of Turkey (a list of the 81 districts in Turkey, all of which are notable), List of people from Montreal (people from Montreal who are notable), etc. This list, on the other hand, is not comprehensive (listing every fictional TV show ever) nor is it restricted to notable examples (such as The Brown Hornet, The Itchy & Scratchy Show, etc. Instead, it is an indiscriminate list. The inclusion criteria? Whomever happens by includes whatever show they happen to think of. This is WP:Listcruft.

After 8 years, we have quite a useless little list here. We've managed to capture the dozens of shows briefly mentioned once in lots of current shows. Older material (e.g., "National Bandstand" from Grease)? Not so much. This is WP:Recentism.

Further, we are treated to various editors' opinions as to what the fictional show is "similar to" or a "parody of". This is, of course, little more than guesswork, often based on nothing but the title.

I propose moving this article to Fictional televison shows, keeping the brief paragraph explaining the concept, axing all of the examples that do not have sources or articles and eliminating all of the unsourced "parody of" garbage. Comments? - SummerPhD (talk) 16:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

OK. Here we go. I guess I'll start slow and see if there are any reactions. - SummerPhD (talk) 22:54, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Organization

edit

As currently organized (by work), the list is a bit too limiting and inconsistent with other lists. Maybe organize it by medium, like other “List of fictional X” articles? Of course, we would still need to strictly enforce the removal of non-members like fictional stations, minor items, and anything from non-notable works. 165.91.13.204 (talk) 16:16, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Stackenblocken

edit

Stackenblocken wikipedia Google search gets this page as the first result, but I can't find the word in the article (including in recent edit history or talk page). How can that be? --_Vi (talk) 00:54, 4 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
